For any artists out there, take note: Dumile put in a ton of work since he was young, which paid off with a major hit and notoriety with KMD, then had to deal with tragedy when his brother/best friend/bandmate tragically passed away, and only then did he reach a point where he transcended his peers to become a legend and GOAT contender. The morale of the story is to chase your passion with whatever you've got. I'm mostly saying this to myself as someone who's starting music way older than most and needs to put more time into it, so don't take it as discouraging like you have to put in 28 hours a day to be great, but just always remember that if you love it, you only get one shot at this life so give it everything you can. It's hard and you don't want to push so hard that you lose your passion for it, but there's no getting around the fact that time spent is the only factor that matters for how good you get. Keep doing what you love, even if you only have 1 hour a week to do it. But if you're lucky enough to have more time than that, try to use that time wisely and remember that it's not a chore, it's your passion so you'll be happier if you put more time into it.
