Good review. I got an Mfactory Helical LSD for my ST too (was after a Quaife LSD, but, pandemic made these hard to come by... Mfactory is effectively same thing though, and I know Honda, Toyota, VW and other manufacturers trust Mfactory... so a good product reputation). I noticed, immediately, better traction, far less wheel slip, and far less torque steer. Best mod investment I made on my car. And whilst I had the gearbox off, I took that opportunity to replace the clutch and flywheel with the genuine Focus RS dual mass flywheel and clutch (much higher rated in terms of torque). Since I had the diff and transmission upgrades, I upgraded the air induction system (Airtec system), PumaSpeed R-Sport Intercooler, rear engine mount, and a PumaSpeed MAXD-OUT 280 ECU remap, so I am running now at 289bhp (metric, about 294bhp equivalent stateside) and 386 lb ft of torque. Bit of a mish mash of componentry due to unavailability of straight stage 1 or all stage 2 components: so i have a stage 2 induction, stage 3 rated intercooler and stage 1 remap! Next thing I will do is upgrade the catback exhaust, and probably put in a more robust blow off valve ... but I want a quietish one, not a loud one... so bit of shopping to do there. Just want to tip the scales over 300bhp, that's the target... which is safe before you need to start thinking about forged pistons and con rods, and upgraded hybrid turbo. Full Stage 2 remap will come after those physical upgrades

@@_fast4lfa thanks mate, appreciated - and same to you too 🙂... oh definitely fun. It's gone from being a Golf GTi botherer to being a Golf R botherer (I've beaten one!) It will hit 60mph now in 5.2 seconds and 0-100km/h (0-62) in 5.6 seconds. So yes, lot of fun! The LSD change was necessary though I felt... and I always find myself switching off all the ESC controls now, because I get full feel of the steering and what the front end is doing

Im so shock that a 2013 honda civic si comes bone stock from factory a helical quafie LSD. When a focus ST does not... every other FWD car comes with it ither helical quafie or the Mfactory... this sucks 😆

Fords need the whole lower control arm replaced for a ball joint? Also that mechanic should know but if you have an open diff one wheel spins one way and the opposite wheel spins the other. Ie left wheel spins forward right wheel spins backwards

What are the physics of the diff helping in braking? That's something I haven't heard before
@_fast4lfa Жыл бұрын
Both wheels connected to the crank meaning engine braking is more affective
@IgorBagayev Жыл бұрын
@@_fast4lfa aren't they always both connected? I mean I'd understand it under the slippery conditions, when one wheel has less grip than the other. But when both wheels are on the clean tarmac, engine braking can't be so severe that the one loses traction. Just my thoughts
@_fast4lfa Жыл бұрын
@@IgorBagayev right it’s not as big of a deal on clean flat roads, but it keeps both wheels at the same speed which aids traction
