I'm sure it's super quiet but i find it interesting that you tested the noise while in cw mode as that mode would have the most filtering in place to eliminate interference. Cool vid

It wasn't a radio noise test, it was a "how loud is this fan" test. As far as radio noise, I haven't had any of that either.

Hello,I have the MFJ-4035MV power supply, which was stored in a box for over 10 years. Previously it was working well. But now the voltage meter fluctuates and does not stay as set with the voltage adjustment knob. I did open the unit up to blow any dust in there but the problem persist. Can you tell me why this is happening?

Could of questions......Would I need an in-line fuse with the power supply? Will this work with the ICOM 2730A? If not what power supply would you recommend to power my ICOM IC-2730A?
@hamradiotube2 жыл бұрын
It would be wise to put fuses on things, yes. This should be no problem for that radio either. I rather like this power supply and use it all the time.
@VK5IR5 жыл бұрын
How easy would it be to accidentally bump the voltage knob and put 16 volts into a radio rather than 13.8?
@hamradiotube5 жыл бұрын
Not very easy. I feel that would have to be a more deliberate thing. Plus, the dial has an indent so it stops on 13.8, and needs a bit of pressure to move it away from that. It's pretty solid.
@F5VMJ2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I’m a bit wary of that too. I take the knob off and just leave the potentiometer spindle showing. It’s hard to turn. In the past I’ve also used spindle locks which basically lock the potentiometer from turning. If you can’t find a spindle lock try a mini vernier dial knob. These are supposed to be used with multi turn potentiometers but can be used here too, just because most have a locking lever that prevents adjustment when set. Although a tad more expensive than a spindle lock, they are more aesthetically pleasing on a front panel. A cheap skate option that I use on a lab power supply is a bit of blutac or tape 😜😂 on the voltage adjustment control.

Thanks for watching Kevin. I wasn’t using a charger. I was using the power supply to charge directly to the battery and the HT’s with the Powerpole connector on the back of the supply. The adjustable voltage allows you to do such things and more.

Did I miss something? How did you connect the HT ‘s to the power supply? I see the cord go into the HT but not sure what’s happening on the other end?
@hamradiotube4 жыл бұрын
I have a few HT's that charge off of 12V so I can connect them to the power supply. My Yaesu VX7R just goes straight into it with the power wire, and the charging is handled internally. I use power poles of course. I can also lower the voltage for other ht's that like to see about 10 volts, plug it into the cradle, and charge away.
