Thanks Dave. I had no idea that fuse had an LED in it. Pretty cool though. I substituted the fuse that came with it for that so I would still have a 5 amp fuse. I think I got the fuse I used either at Walmart or Auto Zone.

Thanks for watching. You can put any size fuse you want in any of the plugs (20a max for the whole side). I don’t think I’ve ever come close to needed more than 20amps on that side. I plug in less power hungry things like antenna tuners and HT chargers.

Three years too late for the drawing, but you are slowly making me a Power Pole addict. I think I bought that big strip from MFJ around 2000 sometime and carried it with me in our RV when we went full-timing, but working 100- hour weeks meant I never used it. The next time I get up to Chicago to my son's house I will check my storage boxes marked Ham Radio to see if I still have it. @hamradiotube4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I kind of figured that out after making this video. Thanks for the info though. 73
@arlipscomb4 жыл бұрын
I made it AA4YU. I noticed that on the largest, the MFJ-1128 the total fused value of the output legs exceeds the input fuse. To me that is a bit of a design flaw as you can overrun your input fuse without any of the legs being over their current limits. It would also be nice if the input side were protected by a breaker so you would not have to keep replacement fuses on hand for that situation.
@hamradiotube4 жыл бұрын
Yeah a breaker on the input would be nice. It's really not a big deal what fuses are on the other side. You can put whatever you want, just don't exceed 20amps total on that side. You would have to have radios "on" on all of the other outlets and then transmit with one of them to go over. I only have 1 thing plugged into that side so far, so time will tell I suppose. Thanks for watching! 73

Just received info today that the rigrunner drops voltage by 1v. So if someone is using a 12v battery “go box” to supply power to a radio, then it seems that with a 1v loss down to 11v for a radio would be a very bad thing. That would even be before transmitting. Is this common knowledge, or am I just such a newbie that I wasnt aware of this 1v loss?
@hamradiotube4 жыл бұрын
Sounds more like fake news to me. Although none of these are made by rig runner, so I can't comment on that brand, but these are really just outlet strips. Pretty simple design and I have experienced zero voltage loss on any of the 4 that I use.
