a friend of mine gave me his to work on. It blew the lights and I've ordered LEDs to pu in there. As I was checking it out, I connected an IC-703 and ran max power of 10 watts. The power read correctly however, if you go to set the SWR FWD, it will not max to the set position on the meter. I pulled up the schematic to see if there was a problem with the meter or does it just not read SWR correctly with QRP into the meter. I noticed that there are several component values that are different from the schematic. I don't know if the unit is correct or if the schematic is correct but they don't match and the unit doesn't go to the set position when turning the control fully clockwise with 10 watts in. Can anyone try this with their unit and see if it works or not? Thanks, NA5A

What I do not like about any of the meters on the market, are their calibration pots. They could use multi-turn, which is more precise, for not much extra cost, but they purchase the cheapest single-turn pots they can get. They are harder to calibrate over this very thing.

I thought the 9v was to power the peak circuit. The 12v plug in the back is for the vu lights.

Would be helpful if you had shown this BIG BOY next to a rig or two, in order to really get the feel of its relative size. Nothing but your hands compare its size to. But tnx for the demo OM! 73 de N6RRY

Is the peak power true peak power? Some of the cheaper meters say peak but they aren't powered so can't be. I see this is powered.

Would an internal 9v rechargeable battery get a charge from the 12V supply?

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. The meter comes prewired for a 9v battery. I am sure a rechargeable 9v battery would work just as well as an alkaline battery.

Will this work for GMRS radios ? How about CB radios ?
@WJ6FRadio4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. No, I don't think it will work for GMRS/FRS since they operate on 70 cm. Yes it will work on CB because it is an 11 meter radio.

The theory is solid...Mfj USED to assemble in US, but farmed that out overseas. It's hit or miss as YOU are quality control so lots of no solder/cold solder joints, loose connections, and parts left out. If you can deal with that, the products work.
