Rap even goes back farther than that. It was sung in the fields while picking crops and in chain gangs. So the format is one guy raps out a line then everyone repeats it or replies with a reply to what the first guy said. Stomping the ground or swinging your shovel or axe to keep the beat was also common. That's why it traveled to the 30s into the 40s then briefly in the 50s to disco in the 70s until it reach what we call rap from the 80s

There was a lot of talent in those days it just wasn't recognized like it should have been due to the times back in the day they would have juke joints where they would go and sing and drink and that is how it became I don't know if you've ever talked to your grandma but if you did she would probably tell you the same if she went to joints in the woods it's nice to see younger folks going back and looking at the talent that was back in the days of the 30s 40s and 50s even got better in the 60s I mean what group come out of Motown but what an absolutely fantastic my personal favorite temptations for tops Smokey Robinson Mickey's monkey one of my favorite songs but it's really nice to see that someone has went back and checked out the talent that many people have since forgotten
