I have saw those two units two days ago. I usually saw those three B23-7's before their retirement. I'm lucky I got to see an U23B 3901 several times in the early and 2000's.

Sad to see those 3 B23-7s leave the Nashville & Western RR… :( R.I.P. NWR #3177, NWR #4219, and NWR #4245 A new era in North America is starting soon, with passenger carriers starting to replace their old fleet with newer SC-44 chargers from Siemens. Amtrak, on the Northeast Corridor, replaced their AEM-7 fleet with 70 ACS-64s from Siemens, while the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, also known as the 'SEPTA,' also replaced their AEM-7 fleet with newer ACS-64s from Siemens as well. With RJ Corman having to place all 3 NWR B23-7s (and the only diesels on NWR too) up for sale and sell them off to Progress Rail for scrap, the future of Nashville & Western are 2 newly-built B20-8 locomotives from the Nashville & Eastern RR. In order to finally replace the 3 B23-7s once-and-for-all on the NWR, NERR and RJ Corman worked together to build those 2 B20-8s at the Nashville, TN, shops and paint them in a CSX-inspired paint scheme with Nashville & Eastern lettering. The 2 forever units seen after the farewell to the 3 B23-7s are lettered for Nashville & Eastern, but are owned by Nashville & Western. Farewell NWR B23-7s, hello B20-8s from Nashville & Eastern (NERR).

I photographed the 5938 tied down in the Nashville & Eastern's yard at Old Hickory, TN on August 2, 2020. This was definitely one of these two's first runs on the west side of town.

@@SamLovesTrains my dad would get his tractor worked on at the (at the time) Sykes Truck Repair at this grade crossing. This would have been late 80’s. I saw some hopper cars being shoved to the industry via a front-end loader one day. Never will forget that. That industry dealt with crushed glass back then. Looks like it still does.
