Drove these type of. traims in various steel works in the UK in the 70's. Great memories!

CSX train #M367 originates in Selkirk, New York and terminates at the Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard in Chicago, Illinois. On its way to the Chicago area, CSX train #M367 stopped at DeWitt Yard in Syracuse, New York to work at DeWitt Yard. The Cleveland Cliffs Steel plant engines are interesting to watch as they move around the Cleveland Cliffs Steel Mill plants. The hot "torpedo" cars are specialty cars that add to the movement of freight cars within the plants. Thank you for taking the time to capture CSX train #M367 and the Cleveland Cliffs Steel plant's switch engines. Usually, I get to see CSX train #M367 in the Dunkirk, New York area on the Wide World of Trains KZbin channel. This is the first time I have seen CSX train #M367 specifically mentioned on a video from the steel mill plants in the Burns Harbor area of Indiana.

Catch these bottle trains running through East Chicago in the morning hours while it’s still dark. The cars literally glow orange. Pretty dang cool.

Very cool. I worked at the Steelton Plant that Cleveland Cliffs owns now (former Bethlehem Steel and Archlor Mittal. Steelton Pa. Steelton and Highspire R.R. does the shifting in the mill. I worked in the rail mill there. Rail brands you may see are Bethlehem Steelton or Mittal .

I find it interesting that the engines are remote controlled. Did you have to ask permission to fly the drone around or was it on public property/airspace? How do the torpedo cars not melt from having molten steel in them?
@forddon Жыл бұрын
The bottle cars are lined with brick that can withstand the heat

Seen it in a few of your vids - some of the smaller DE engines have a car either directly in front of or behind them (5:58 ref). What is that? Is it a battery pack for areas where burning diesel isn't allowed (if any such areas exist)?
@ralphaverill2001 Жыл бұрын
"Remote Controlled" robot locomotives. Soon the tech at a computer with a joy stick remotely controlling the locos will be replaced by AI. Great video of America's former industrial might rusting away.

The true revenge of the nerds is driving everyone else out of work. The AI Hydra has been set free, and now it's just a matter of a few years before we're all dead, or will want to be. I don't have any aspirations of ever being a code goon. I tried to learn programming years ago in college, and soon realized it ain't my bag. Even the fields of Art and Design (that I majored in at Uni) are not immune. The whole AI art trend on Instagram in particular is really disturbing.

It's slag, not steel, the train dumps the slag at a nearby heap, it is used to make concrete when cooled and transported elsewhere

I see this just about everyday...but I cannot access it due to it's location. Some of those Cleveland Cliffs Security Officers can be very nasty...but understandable, this is an AREA that HOME GROWN Terrorists would love to get to. Cliffs didn't waste time in changing the GUARD on who OWNS those Locomotives now!
