I think if the government really wants to promote EV vehicles, they should control the price first of all. There is nothing but fiber material and a battery, yet they are selling for 20% more than expensive petrol cars. In petrol cars, there is a mechanism, an engine, and various other additional equipment, so the cost is justified. However, in EVs, there is not much, and they are not new technology. When we were kids, we also used small electric cars and bikes 20 years ago. Now, EVs have limited ranges, like 100 kilometers, which is not acceptable. If a person wants to travel 300 kilometers, they always have to carry a charger, which is not portable. Companies should find ways to make EVs more convenient and user-friendly. Fast charging is also required because we cannot stop everywhere for 5-8 hours to charge our vehicles. If you are selling a car above five lakh rupees, it should have a minimum range of 300-500 kilometers to justify the cost. Otherwise, the government and private companies are just fooling the public with high prices. People are ready to accept environmentally friendly options, but the government and private companies are not providing good quality at reasonable prices. This is a big problem in India, and EV car sales are low because, after one year, there is no demand for resale, so why is the price so high?

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV sells for the equivalent of Rs 3,42,000 in China. Practically the same car as the MG Comet EV. Price it at that level in India or watch in dumb horror as Indians shun a two door, overpriced EV. Just by the way, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is the best selling EV in China.

If you have the internet, check out the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV. For the Chinese, that is affordable at USD 4300 and practical. For the Indian whose per capita GDP is less than half of China, would a car at twice the price, Rs6.9 lakh, be affordable? At least try to maintain a little dignity while being fleeced and ripped off. ALL EVs are horrendously overpriced because India doesn't have battery technology. Buy from Tata and chances are you'll get "HV Critical Alert" in your super expensive affordable EV. Only people with air between their ears will buy EVs in India. No indigenous battery technology, poor charging infrastructure and lack of knowledge on battery management systems. That is the present Indian EV scene.
