The idea of steel wheels in the day was to make it slightly cheaper. Alloys were an option. When this particular one was available, there was the Metro Sport , with steel wheels. Metro GTa with 13inch alloys.

You're not wrong about punters buying the red sear belts. The VDP Metro had the exact same spec.
