Bjorn You can switch off the radio, just press home button and hold for few seconds. It will switch off the radio, entertainment screen and display the clock till you press it again.

I think compressor below half is not working at all because it's used to be a heater?. But this is Thailand. How on earth you need heater in Thailand. So they remove it?

Hopefully we will get it here in the Philippines. Thailand and Philippines have very similar climate and traffic situation, although no extensive EV charging facilities yet. MG ZS EV will be suitable in PH, home to work route and back is around 80km. Max price of MG ZS here is Php1M. Maybe EV version will be at Php1.5M.

In the Philippines if you had public charging points chances are high that people would steal electricity for their home. Also electricity supply is not reliable, there are always brown outs.

This is a really good and fair review. My experience is exactly the same as Bjørn's, including that damn radio startup and the chirping horn (my main 2 gripes). It is the most enjoyable and fun car I've owned, and I look forward to every trip in it.

Bjorn on the UK MGs the radio can be turned off by pressing the centre button and holding until the screen blanks and clock display shows in the centre screen. Thanks for your great vids, stay safe.

It works here too, but next time you start up, it will be like that and you can't use navigation, etc. It's not really a viable solution.

I just got the 2020 Leaf 40Kwh version and if driven for what it is intended then Rapid gate isn't a problem. My wife however intends to buy the ICE version of the MG when her Mazda CX-30 needs to be replaced. Thanks to your video I'll try and steer her towards the EV version if its available when she buys. To me Leaf or MG doesn't matter its being a EV that is so important going into the future, economically at least. Neil W

Thanks for the review. As an owner of European ZS EV its interesting to compare notes. Of course, so far only cold weather use and the heated seats are really efficient if only there was an intermediate setting rather than on and off!. The comments on the lane assist bongs and ACC Braking I fully agree and I guess the applying of brakes to slow the MG rather than a combine regen then breaking makes for a simpler system design but not something for everyday use as I had hoped. Maybe there will be an update for the lane assist but I'm not holding my breath in that one. The keys in car warning is a pain and if my wife gets out of passenger seat and closes the door before I leave the bongs start (not the horn) and even after I have left and locked the car with keys in my pocket it can keep on bong bong bonding! until you cycle lock, unlock, lock again. I have found a hack to turning the radio off so that it doesn't turn on when the MG powers up. It might not work with the Thai software though. With the car in 'Ready' and radio on press and hold for 3-5 seconds the 'Home' button (in the centre of the central knob beneath the main infotainment screen) until the radio goes off and on the European model, the clock appears. Now when the car is powered down and then powered up again the clock comes on but not the radio. The European model may not have an App but does have DAB digital radio which in the UK is much better and stable in the MG than my 2015 Honda CR-V. I'd really look forward to an in-depth video on the Thai infortainment system and I just wonder if there is a hack to install it on the Euro MG?

Hi! Great review!! Hyundai quotes the usable battery in their spec sheet right? Can you tell me how much the usable battery in the MG is? In comparison to kona 39.2 kwh, would you consider this a better car? They cost the same in my country. I know MG has more space and is practical, but that is not a priority for me. Thanks a lot!

Hi Bjorn, Dave in France here. Thanks very much for this video, I ordered one of these cars - a ZS EV luxury - just yesterday (11/09/2021) !!! Picking it up on thursday. The dealer lent me the car for a couple of days so I could play with it. The style of presentation on the main centre screen appears to be a bit different to your Thai one, but it will have a big update before it is delivered to me, so maybe it will change? Do you know if there is an app for European models ? Cheers Dave

Hi Bjorn, great vids. I have a house in Sakon Nakhon where I stay for from November to March when it gets too hot for me. I'd love to get an EV to use in Thailand but if I drive to Bangkok that's 650km so I'd need to stop for charge 2 or 3 times. Can you tell me if the public charging network in Thailand is adequate to support buying an EV, please? Can you also tell me how much (in Thai Baht) the MG ZS EV costs, please? Thanks

@martino91344 жыл бұрын
MG over the leaf . Two big reasons . (1) MG has liquid cooled battery . And (2) 45kWh usable capacity. The leaf still is passive (no cooling) and it's only 37kWh usable, and you'll lose 5% of that quickly. 2018 1st editions are on about 35 now .

I can't imagine anyone wants heated seats in Thailand, does the manual air-conditioner have heat as well on the Thai version? I know that many manufacturer only put cooling mode on Indonesian vehicles when the same vehicle in Australia had heater as well, I guess it's a cost saving though I used to wonder how it's cheaper to make two sets of temperature controls (one cooling only and the other with hot and cold) verses only one that is used in all vehicles (I guess if you make enough it might be). With modern vehicles where it's all software displays and controls it make more sense.
@ashton96993 жыл бұрын

Does the car need any lubrication OIL and cooling liquid checked/changed?
@paulspiers54664 жыл бұрын
Bud Martin electric cars do not need oil changes. The reduction gear is lubricated but doesn’t typically require maintenance. The coolant only needs to be checked if the vehicle gives a warning message. I am basing this information on my Tesla Model 3, so the MG may be different.

Never understood why they don't step down the main battery to a 12v circuit for all the 12v stuff. Seems weird putting a lead acid battery into an EV on many different levels.
@ozzieparky4 жыл бұрын
I presume it's so that there's redundancy in the system - even if you completely discharge the traction battery you've still got some power for safety related systems like the lights, hazards, locks etc

I think it is showing respect to your partner if we can wait for a min and leave the car together, and then walk side by side in to the mall or bank or wherever we are going. It's not a good feeling if your partner is ahead of you walking away
