Fantastic and informative review. I drove one for a week recently and, as a Tesla owner, I am really impressed with the MG ZS EV. It is the best value-for-money EV out there, and the quality of the product is up there (features such as traffic-aware cruise control, lane assist, blindspot warnings, cameras, sunroof, electric driver seat, great visibility, etc). I particularly like the comfortable seats. This is the perfect car for those who want to start on their inevitable EV journey.

Nice, balanced review. MG/SAIC certainly gives consumers value for their money. The MG ZS is a decent vehicle and should be even better with the expected update later this year.

Great balanced video. This entry level EV represents good value for money for those buyers wanting to get into an EV that cannot afford a Tesla, Kona or Niro EV despite some comments about it being made in China on other KZbin channels. I would definitely buy the top spec one as reviewed.

Generally a balanced review, but the comment on the ball airvents , switches and the gear select (straight out of the VW/Audi parts bin) was hilarious...and putting a b roll of the 12V battery gauge when talking about the battery display induced a chuckle. The MG Pilot is a standard Bosch system as fitted to Mercs, Volvos etc at a premium of course. Still a good honest review.

Very good video, thanks. Love ours and i can get my bike (Moulton) and the wife's wheelchair in the boot with seats up! Very comfy seats and the grandchildren love the opening glass roof. I really like the toggle switches and Jaguaresque rotary knob. Corners cut? Non height adjustable passenger seat, no centre headrest, no tinted windows, non height adjustable seat belts, no auto climate control - but otherwise packed with useful and very safe bits. I paid £21k new. Brilliant!

44.5 Kw battery it's a entry level EV and good value for money. Most people would use a smartphone for navigation and entertainment via the entertainment systems Apple CarPlay or Android auto option.
@DriveGreen3 жыл бұрын
Yes that definitely seems to be what they were going for. It is nice to see Apple CarPlay and Android Auto featured.

I agree and think MG made the right choice. There is no way car manufactures can compete with Google maps and I always check my car's sat nav against what Google maps us advising.

Good video, but I completely disagree with you about adaptive cruise control. I had this on my previous but one Honda CRV and on the motorway, it was excellent. I hated loosing it when I got my next Honda CRV, and this is something I think all cars should have. It is a great safety measure when using Cruise Control so you can set and forget and slow down and speed up relative to traffic in front of you.

Yes, standard Bosch system as fitted to many premium cars, usually at a high cost.

You mentioned that the battery capacity on the 2021MG ZS EV now has a 50 kwhr. battery. Other sources say 44.5 kwhr., but perhaps there was a slight increase in the battery size for 2021. In any event, real world range of 150 miles is pretty decent.
@kevinabbott38903 жыл бұрын
I have found a comment that an upgraded model will have approx 70kwh battery, so 250 mile range. I hope it's true.

I really like the switches (except the now pointless and initially fairly clunky battery switch) and drive selector, at least visually and tactility. They work surprisingly well for shifting regen modes as you e.g. descend a hill.

I guess these sort of things are always subjective and its good to hear people do like them. And for those who are less keen, it’s hardly a deal breaker! Thanks for watching Craig and for leaving a comment 🙂

Nope, straight out of the VW/Audi parts bin, as is the steering wheel (Golf )

The ZS is getting an update later this year with a new Hi-Tech battery that although it's the same capacity, yeilds a longer range of just over 200 miles. The 5 has a slightly bigger battery and much better aerodynamics to get its 214 mile range, but you lose the lovely sunroof, ACC, Lane Assist, the roof rails are pretty useless, and then there's the looks. The 5 is quicker, smoother and better handling though.
@PeterChinkin3 жыл бұрын
To achieve 200 miles from a 40kWh usable battery, you would need to average 5 miles per kWh. That's simply impossible in an inefficient SUV. I suspect that the upgraded ZS will have a bigger battery and a corresponding price increase. It is premature to discuss value when no details about specification or price have been announced. A possible future update doesn't change the value of the current vehicle, which compares rather unfavourably to the MG5 when looking at range per £.
@sandyritchie2873 жыл бұрын
Depends entirely how you value your money spent. If its purely on miles per charge then your right, but if size, space, technical functionality, practicality then you couldn't be more wrong. MG5 is a good car, give it a year lets see if the MG5 sells as well as the ZS has and still is selling.
@chrishyde12163 жыл бұрын
I'm also more interested in an MG5 but would like to see an NCAP rating as safety is important. The ICE MG ZS had a mediocre score of 3/5 whereas the EV variant had 5/5.
