Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession! You may remember that a few weeks ago I carried out a real-world MPG test with the latest Suzuki Swift Hybrid - video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWOQcqx3dqadecU. More recently, I had the new MG3 Hybrid+ on test, and seeing as it has the same fuel economy as the Swift and it's at a similar pricepoint, in the same sector, it made sense so replicate the same test that I did wit the Swift to see how the MG compares. Do you think I will make it? What MPG do you think the car will make? Let me know in the comments section below.

Being a proud and happy owner of a MG3 hybrid in the UK, I must comment on your video. On my recent trip from Grimsby to London, the MG3 returned just under 69 mpg according to the diver display. How do you find the position of brake pedal? I think it is way too high above the floor.

Thanks for a really interesting real-life test. I'm wrestling with what to replace my 8 year old Suzuki Celerio automatic with; the Swift, the MG3 or the Yaris. It's a hard decision to make because the Celerio still averages about 70 mpg year-round, as confirmed by tank measurements. The MG3 is the cheapest automatic option but I'm edging towards the Swift because of the experience I've had with the Celerio. Both wifey & me, the daughter-in-law & the brother-in-law all have one & other than a/c issues (caused by the cars not being driven much during COVID), the cars have been supremely reliable. The Yaris looks tasty but it largely rules itself out because of its extortionate price. PS - typically what speed did you average on the road trip? Eyeballing the display, you didn't seem to go much above 60 mpg right?
@CarObsessionАй бұрын
That is a good question and I would need to try and look back at stats or footage but from memory I think on the motorways I was going 60-65mph. Thanks for watching 👍🏽.

Saw a lot of those comparisons with the MANUAL Swift, which I believe is not fair because we all know that a manual gets better economy than an automatic.

The MG looks pretty decent inside though I disagree about the digital display I really quite like the Suzuki analogue display though thst heated wheel sways me a bit not sure the auto floats my boat. Suzuki has a good reputation for reliability and dealerships and are generally considered well engineered and durable though could do witha halo model. After test driving the new Swift we bought the older Sport version as its ride and handling are so much better. I think I would lease an MG as the long term ownership proposition is less certain and buy a Suzuki.

So it's rough, noisy, not very efficient (at those speeds i get just a little bit less MPG in my TSI), not even nearly as fast as expected for the rated power, and being Chinese i bet not very reliable either. Sure it has 7 year warranty but it's not fun waiting for help. And i'm sure that, being a hybrid, you won't even be able to claim the warranty because the dealer will say that YOU broke it. So yeah, just buy a regular car or invest on a proper electric. This isn't worth it. Hybrids are not worth the money in general. Never were, never will be.

@@xXturbo86Xx Hi there, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. What makes you think it's rough? Also you mentioned about it not being as fast as expected? Also, I'm intrigued as to why it being a hybrid would affect the way the warranty would be handled?
