Good afternoon everyone! Thank you very much for spending time to watch my fuel economy test on the new Suzuki Swift. *Apologies the audio is patchy at times, I had issues with my voice recorder, which have since been resolved.*

Hi I’ve has the Swift RS ( can choose AT or MT drive ) for 3 years. I can confirm good mileage and rather big luggage trunk. Passengers on the rear seats are surprised how much space they have. Every moment behind the wheel is a great joy ! I definitely can recommend this car. Love from Japan Richard

One aspect of the Swift which may sound odd, is that the more you cane the better it gets. It seems to revel in harsher treatment and it responds with its light weight and sharp cornering. So it seems to get better with a heavy foot.

I once did 549 miles (mainly on the motorway) on a single tank of unleaded in my Suzuki Celerio. Given that its tiny tank only ever allows you to put in 32 litres max, that's the equivalent of 77.99 mpg! My Celerio has the so-called AMT gearbox, basically a robotised manual. Interestingly the Indian version of the Swift automatic also has the AMT box, not the CVT. TBH, I wish Suzuki had opted for the AMT in the UK too. It's a relatively cheap upgrade which basically gives you the same, if not better, fuel efficiency as a manual box. The CVT on the other hand is expensive & hits you at the pump.

Great review. Maybe try again with E5 petrol? Slightly better mpg.

Good point Alan 👌🏽. The car was delivered with virtually a full tank, though, which I assume would have been E10. Thanks for watching.

The Swift is a competent, great little car. Their only issue is they suffer badly from stone chipping, particularly on the bonnet/hood, so I'd include in the budget, a clear protective vinyl wrap on this area.

Not a bad shout!

Yes, I noticed that on a few Swifts at a local dealer which were only 2-3 yr old. My Suzuki Celerio also has stone chips, even though its only done about 36K miles

@chasbrown7303 I've heard of some Hondas being prone to stone chipping, could it be quality of paint Japanese manufacturers use? 🤔
@chasbrown73034 ай бұрын
@CarObsession you would think Japanese paint quality would match build quality...but guess it's the modern world now..different

I drive a Baleno Sz5 2016 - 1 litre 3 cylinder I get 58 mpg and play the range game- it regularly goes back up once I am on an A road doing 50-55mph. Utterly reliable little car, as was the 2014 plate SX4 I had before. For the commute I do into Oxford on rural B roads and A roads it’s ideal. Radar controlled cruise control, LED lights etc too. Yeah there are rumours that Suzuki won’t be making a Swift Sport for this generation. So all I can guess is that they want people to use the base swift as a sort of platform to build up on. The Swifts already are really good handling cars and they have good engines.
@anthonybrown48744 ай бұрын
Had a test drive in one of these pretty pleasant drive didn't feel underequipped or too slow if you stick near to speed limits. Personally looks wise I prefer the last gen which we have. I feel much better about owning a Swift rather than say a Dacia. All depends what you pay for the car if you are NHS police etc you qualify for a useful discount.
@CarObsession4 ай бұрын
Yes, I also prefer the look of the last car, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

I own a Swift so a few pointers. The paint issue might be the move from oil paint to water based paint. Environment and all that😊 Speed wise is fine. A car doing 60 mph is the same speed as another car doing 60mph. The electric motor adds a few horses so its not that slow once you get going. When i bought the car, the brakes felt weak. But they have either bedded in or i am used to them. I dont have a frame of reference so not sure if its me or the car.
@CarObsession3 ай бұрын
Hi James, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. From memory, I think the test car supplied had done well over 3,000 miles (maybe even more than 4,000), so the brakes would have bedded in, but I understand what you mean.

@@mikenewbold1699 if you ask me a Tesla seems dangerous 0-62 in 3 seconds, that is outright dangerous what if a car pulls out in front of you ! Also doing 100mph effortlessly is also pretty dangerous in fact a Tesla should have a zero N-cap rating because it must be uncontrollable to drive, what happens if your foot slips on the accelerator or you go over a large pot hole and causes your foot to hit it you'd be up the back of someone before you knew it ! Now in the Suzuki if you suddenly stamped on the accelerator by accident not a lot would happen and you would either instantly regain control or never lose control in the first place, the Suzuki will also do over 100mph if you're worried about going too slowly. Was there anything else ?
