MG4 SE Long Range 2023 Review

Nice review. Just a quick note about range. I have a trophy model and regularly get 250+ miles from a full charge (closer to 300 at the moment... ). The trick is to drive it in eco mode - it's not as slow as I expected it to be. It's a bit of a pain remembering to change the mode each time you get in the car but once you programme the left steering wheel button to go to the driving mode screen and do it a few times, it soon becomes second nature.

A massive fault with these cars is it resetting back to default when you leave the vehicle. This includes the absolutely dangerous lane assist.

Got my 2023 MG4 same colour and spec as in the review. Absolute lovely in love with the RWD fun it provides and amazing charging speeds - 143kw solid all the way to 50% (even with a cold battery). Beats previous PHEVs and EVs we've had in the family, inc Nissan Leaf, Prius PHV, Passat GTE and MG5! All negatives I find are minor except the MG pilot (adaptive cruise and lane assist) these went from very useable in the MG5 to useless in the 4, lol

Should have searched dealers with stock, 5 days order to pick up. But it will be worth the wait, From an ex CLA35 AMG driver which doesn't miss his ICE

Bad choice going for an EV with these electricity prices. Calculated how much my brother in law spends on electricity for his Kia Niro 64kwh to get the same range as my mk8 GTD's full tank range and he has to fork out about 1.7x more than me

If your thinking of buying one check out the lane assist on a busy motorway. It's extremenly dangerous and almost rips the steerin wheel from your hands. It can be switched off but defaults to ON when the car is vacated. Most dangerous car I have ever driven.

Thanks for watching - The lane check assist leaves itself on whatever you set it to now, thanks to a recent software update. However, things like traffic sign recognition turns itself back on.

Turn it off then, MG pilot LKA disable job done.

Software is glitchy and a bit slow especially lane assist. Dunno whether MG does updates "over the air" or not. Hope they do, it needs sorting out. A heat pump would assist with range in colder weather, does this car have one? I know that some but not all of the MG range does. General conclusion, an excellent car which will shake the sector up - VW in particular. When the other Chinese, BYD Dolphin appears that will really hurt the market - it is dirt cheap.

Not sure about the 70/40 rear split seats though, mentioned at 11mins 30secs I think that would be difficult to achieve
