MGA Restoration 2019 Aussie Pt. 80 - Fitting Another LH Door

Repairing the door I had was and is a challenge so I secured another door but changing it over was not as simple as it should have been. Research will tell you that these MGA doors presented problems in fitting, even at the factory, so here is my solution.

Looking good! I cannot thank you enough for creating this video archive. I'm a few years out from building my 1960 MGA Coupe yet--have workshop and house builds on the horizon. But I am steadily collecting parts, including the recent purchase of a 1958 Coupe parts donor car with many panels in better condition than my car. Hoping this will save me time and money, though you never know with these things. Cheers!

@@carlogic1960 Ah, we all dream of a better shop and equipment! Unless we're running a full time business, it's not realistic. Honestly, doing more with less is more impressive! I've worked in home garage "workshops" my entire life. Only reason I'm building a new shop (& house) is we're chucking city life and moving to the mountains to "retire." My wife will retire, I'll work until the day I die--God willing!

i used shims between the hinges and jams and door latches to line up the doors, fore and aft (up and down and in and out adjustment was inherent in the design of the mounting plates)), when i restored my exterior. i was nineteen at the time, new to automobile restoration and it was pre-internet, all information as to how one might go about it was by word of mouth or research in a library. or one could risk being the recipient of ridicule and wrath by asking the local body shop employees how to go about it. :)
