Nice save! The BGT is looking good. I will watch look for the “get it running” video. I have had my ‘65 roadster since I bought it from my grandfather in 1977. I was 12 when I first saw it new in his driveway in Burlingame, CA. Still going strong and looking good as well. The car has been part of my life in one way or another for 59 of my almost 71 years.

Thanks, John! MGs were also a part of my life growing up. My parents had a "TF" 1500 as their only car for a portion of their life before kids in the early 60's living in PA. Dad still had all the books and manuals for it and I pondered over them when I was young as well as heard all the stories about it. The never had any cool cars after that and I do remember them well and going to the British Leyland dealership growing up collecting MG and Triumph literature which I still have. Over many years had 4 MGB’s, one of them a GT. While I am a diehard roadster guy, the GT is a classic small car sports car. Love it. Would love to drive one with a Moss Motors supercharger.

I use playing cared to quickly cover a tyre for painting, just overlap each one and push them in under the rim, takes 2 minutes and is recyclable!

Great MG! Moss makes a great wire wheel spray paint. Love the shade of grey and it wears like iron!

It will need at least 4 new tires and a whole lot more to be safe :) These are rollers and rollers around the block when I get it going. They are shot!

For quickly masking off the wheels.. use some old playing cards, slotted around and overlapping.

The MG is painted Green Mallard, BRG not available that year

It has been repainted from the lighter Mallard Green to darker BRG. But yes, you are correct in nomenclature.

Thanks, Frank. Having a bit of trouble finding a '69 ignition switch and key set. If ya got any leads leave in comments. Thanks for your interest!! Keys were lost decades ago which helps explain when it was abandon. Previous owner said it was well maintained and drove it in there prior to loosing keys.

You can try The Roadster Factory , British Northwest,Moss Motors Rimmer Bros (They are in the UK and LBC Company (Little British Car Company. I loved that car but wanted a one year only TR250. Good luck if you need more help just reach out . All The Best

Love to find a barn find MGB GT may I ask what you paid for it? I have a 75 Triumph Spitfire I am working on but want a GT ether a Triumph Or MG.

I bought everything in the barn. MGB OD transmission, a '68-'75 corvette hardtop and some other items. I'll say 1k for the car roughly.

Great save. I have both a 68, 71, 78, 80 and 79 & 80 Limited Editions MGB convertible's plus a 68 MGC GT in my collection. All the cars have had ground up restorations except for the the MGC GT which I am currently working on. Painting the wheels suggestion. Normally I always replace the tires. Once the old tires are removed I will sand blast them, primer them and spray them with Moss silver paint with a clear gloss coat of Prostomium spray paint. If the tires do not need replacing I will use a large section of cardboard and make a template on the back side of the wheel. I use a rubber mallet. You can re-use the template on all 5 wheels. Great suggestions. New tires ordered and will do a better paint job then inside and out. Got a box of parts from Moss including oil filter cartridge, etc. And an MGC hu? Always been intrigued by them. What's your best advice/source for a gas tank? We'll check your channel out and subscribe!

I have been restoring MGBs since I was in High School. My father gave me my first MGB. A 67 in BRG. It had a blown engine and needed a complete restoration. I think I have owned at least 30 MGB and GTs. Now that I recently retired I can focus a bit more on this hobby. (One of many) My dad still helps me and my wife hasn't left me yet. :)@@classicperformance
