I can't wait for the Weber tuning video on the race track. Not a lot of people know how to tune carbs like they used to. Thank you for your videos, well done from Australia!

Steve I am not sure if you can use them in your racing group, but Bastuck in Germany makes aluminum alloy “alfin” brake drums for the MGB, lighter and better heat transfer therefore less likely to get brake fade.

Very well done! I have performed these tasks many times when I raced my Datsun 510. One thing I had done on the drum brakes was to have the shoes professionally arced to match the ID of the drums for maximum contact. Every little bit adds up on a race car. Since drum brakes are not common on modern street cars you might have to search for a shop that can do it for you. I went to a shop that worked on semi trucks that had a machine that could match the arc of the shoes to the drums. What is the name of the manufacturer of your giant syringe you used for filling the gear box and differential?

Efficiency of drum brakes is actually quite greater than disc brakes (if they are of comparable sizes). Early cars didn't have to use a vacuum power brakes amplifier because drum brakes can actually amplify themselves. Furthermore, drum brakes are better protected from dirt, debris, contaminations, and water splashes from road (which can easily make disc brakes warp). The only and the biggest problem, con, and disadvantage is cooling rate. They are heavy and closed, so they're really hard to cool down (and to heat up as well, by the way)

Great view of the front brake cooling hose, thank you. I have had leaking issues on my rear hub seals. Already replaced them once. At my last inspection they mentioned 'evidence of oil leak from rear hubs'. So before the next inspection I must remember to remove the evidence :)

Good Job Steve. I’m pleased you changed the shoes on the side with the slight leak. I was watching another channel only yesterday with a similar issue, but a worse leak and the guy was adamant that there is no need to change the shoes. He advocated soaking them in brake clean overnight to drive the oil out of the friction material. Obviously this is not going to be effective and will be dangerous. I was confident that you would correctly address the situation and you did. Thanks for these videos.

Another great video Steve. I always drill and safety wire my fill plugs to the drain plugs on the diff., gearbox and oil pan of my race car so they can’t come out while on the track.

Replacing that oil seal on the rear axle looks a lot easier on your car with tube style axle than on my MGB with banjo axle. To put it simply: the oil seal sits on the other side of the bearing. So for the banjo axle it is necessary to press the bearing out of the hub to get to the oil seal. More disassembly steps, plus a press, was required to replace that seal.

Thanks for the comments, indeed this axle ( tubes) is easy

Your differential oil would drain faster if you took the fill plug out, which you have to do anyway.

Track tuning for a new season is always a special time. It's obviously work, but so enjoyable at the same time as we anticipate a new season of racing. I'm looking forward to seeing how your testing goes.

The duck tail spoiler is cool looking but does it have some effect? Is the air flow still attached along the rear window? The brake pressuriser us a beat device for sure by the way 😏

The biggest benefit is that the tailgate is all polyester, so very , very light.. that is the biggest advantage. I gives a bit back pressure, but not that importend here..

Thanks so much for all your videos Steve, I've got the moss cold air intake and trying to decide if I want to relocate the k&n Infront of the radiator mount or add a cold air intake duct to the engine bay like you have. Do you have an opinion?

The shafts are probably scored and new oil seals will only go so far. You need two Speedi sleeves. But then again you probably thought about this. You sound knowledgeable.

Is there an advantage to draining the differential again as opposed to just jacking up the car on one side?

Both methods work, but as I have the car on a lift it is easier , especially as I chnaged the seal on both sides
