This is another illustration of the silliness of licencing system. That is an ideal 125cc exactly for the role you describe. But if you need a bit more space and want to range just a little further out than say a 10 mile round commute it is too small. But say the SYM Jet X with 125cc though they go you know they are 125cc. We need 16 to 21 y-o's on 125s for new riders, And over 21 a limit of 300cc. Most of our 125s in other markets are 150s or even 200s. I am still surprised there is a market for 50s in the lumpy and bumpy UK. The R8 looks brill.

50’s only have a market because that’s all 16yr olds can ride. Not many stay on them when they turn 17 though.

Tbh I think the answer to the question is 125cc all the way, 50cc limited to 30mph with limited acceleration is maybe OK on estate roads but as soon as you hit even a 50mph duel carriageway you are in the gutter and roundabouts can be dangerous

Totally agree. I feel sorry for 16 yr olds being limited to 50cc.

Wonder if you can help, I’ve got the bike in the video but unsure where to put oil when it’s low on the dipstick, do I fill it straight into the dip stick tube? There is nothing anywhere to say where to put the oil or anything I can see on the bike to fill it, even in the owners manual. Cheers!

I’ve asked the question. The oil goes into the dipstick tube. Always on the centre stand. It takes a max of 900ml and don’t over fill it as you will cause damage. Make sure it’s between minimum and maximum on the dipstick. The mechanic said you shouldn’t really need to top up your oil between services. Don’t check the oil on the side stand. He said it’s a common fault people do and they end up over filling. I hope this helps. 👍

Hi, I'm finding the oil consumption is high, is this normal? No leaks and everything is fine. The bike is new. Do you know why at all, please please help.

Some bikes do burn oil a little bit. I have to top up mine every so often. So it might be normal. Depends just how much and how often you are having to top up. Might be worth contacting the place you bought

@@GillyBikes Appreciate your time to reply. Its my first bike, its the Mgb r8. When I checked yesterday the oil was saying low, I topped it up but it took no more than 100ml to get it right back up. The guy who sold it who was a legit garage who sold only new bikes did say that I would be topping up regularly. What I don't understand is that it has 0.75l oil capacity but such little amount topped it up. Who knows? I've only had it 2 weeks so as time goes by I guess I'll can make better judgement to how much it actually uses....

This or the sym orbit 3 mate? I just got my cbt. Overthinking about what to buy. The sym is £1600 2nd hand. Or this £2k new. Or the yamaha Ray Zr 125 but it has that engine cut off thing. Or any reccomendations you have please. If I was to get this id be using it alot for miles and miles.

Difficult decision. For me I would buy a new one, you get the bonus of a longer warranty etc. but check that before you buy it.

11 hp out of a 125 is a bit naf. I’ve been in In2moto today. They have a big selection of 125’s in there covering all budgets. I didn’t count all of them but I would say between geared bikes and scooters they must have at least 30+ so if you live close by it might be worth popping in and having a look. Or if you look at them on line. I’m pretty sure they deliver as well 👍. I did see a brand new Sym Orbit 3 in there on offer at £2299 . Pre reg as well so I think it’s ready to go.

MGB are a uk company but I’m sure the bikes are made elsewhere. I’ve just hit google to see where they are made though and after pages and pages I can’t find where they are assembled. I would bet it would be Asia somewhere because they tend to be cheaper.

MotoGB are a British company but I have no idea if these are built elsewhere and shipped in. I will find out next week when I’m back at In2Moto.

If you’re looking for a scooter I don’t think you can go wrong with a Sym. They seem to be one of the best for performance as well.
