MGB Restoration PART 9 - Gearbox, pedal box, heater box, snack box

This tank kleen SP10 product was mentioned briefly but I missed its application in the video. On my side I discovered an E10 gasoline additive from Toralin that protects against negative effects both E5 and E10 ethanolholding fuels have on our MGB internals (I also do NOT wish to promote this worthwhile additive supplier in a paid scheme as was offered by them). Heaterbox refurbishing job is a first on KZbin to my recollection; well done!

Thanks! Yeah I was happy with how it turned out, even if half the dirt got transferred onto me. It's certainly clean enough for my purposes anyway.

Nice paint jobs Ross. I think you're right that gloss looks much better than matt paint. A word of advice when you come to refit the heater box is to smother the large rubber spacer block with silicone grease of something similar. Those remanufactured ones are produced with much denser rubber than the originals and have no 'give' in them, so a pain in the arm to get seated. I think you will find the spacer has to be fitted to the heater box before installation as the control cable has to be fed through it and connected before installing on the car. Keep up the good work! 👍

Thanks. It did take some doing that I wasn't inclined to film, but I'm happy with the end result. I'll just change the oil in it, change the mounts and refit it and hopefully it'll work grand.

Saw a video on the Tube a while back of a fella made a small parts cleaner from a 5 gal. bucket and an old sander.

Yeah I've seen that done to great effect. I might try it myself cause I actually have an old sander I could use.

Don't forget to use engine oil in the gearbox.

Thank you very much! It is ½", yes. Apparently, Ryobi have a brushless version out now which is far better than the one I have.

I had to resort to kerosene mine had rust prventative sprayed in my engine bay. After this is complete its off to sandblast.arrrgh

I need to put a finish to another cleaning machine I've made. When I have it done, I'll make a video about it. The thing of using the sander is apparently very effective too though. It's the noise that would put me off doing it.
