Just a lesson like music gone. He is not saying this is a letter when i am gone. He is saying remember all the things he went thru and all the lessons he taught her. It dont mean he is dieing and this lyrics are the letter. We repping since day 1 so it actually clear and transparent for us. I dont know how people takes so hard to understand. All the road trips he went thru was very long. He repping with her daughter in shows. Strange. We here for music not stans or est. So that stan word was really weird. Anyways thanks for your view or opinion on this song,

@@jigmytsewang1472 I like what you said. Except, imo, I think he IS saying this is a letter for when he gone. BUT, not in a he gonna kill himself tomorrow kind of way. Like he wants her to have this to be able to hear Him say how much she means to him, for Whenever he is eventually gone... even if she is 60 she will have this. Its beautiful

The song is for his daughter, but don't worry, Kells always tries to explain her what he meant in the lyrics he writes, for example in Glass house when he says he tried to commit suicide, he sat her down and explained her everything... I think we shouldn't think too much about it because she is probably smarter than all of us🤷‍♀️

Definitely at LEAST knows her father more than we all do. Not really cool for others to judge him for his mistakes/lyrics. Some songs he writes for us, others he writes for his closure, & his family.

His daughter is the reason he’s still living. She knows how important she is no matter what and from what I can tell he’s honest with her about his struggles. I don’t think she’s in the dark about very much. Kids would rather know the truth instead of being left confused and unaddressed. Kids understand more than we think they do and it only hurts them when we keep things from when. Conversations save lives.

I can't speak for him or his daughter but he's always been a straight shooter with everyone. He more than likely doesnt try to sugarcoat to her the lifestyle he lives. The song is him saying he lives a hectic life and he goes through a lot of negative shit because of who he is. It can be interpreted as a suicide note because he struggles from depression and it unfortunately is a very real thing but also hes maturing and seeing that he will die eventually and he doesnt want his daughter to feel how he's been feeling since his own father passed away. First time I heard it I liked it but didnt pay attention to it closely but I got chills when yall were watching it. Thanks for the video #LFRFam #LaceUp

Lonely makes me sad for the people I've lost. He connects us through his pain. I didn't feel like Play This When I'm Gone is a suicide note as much as a chance to say goodbye if he didn't get one - remember Glass House (me and death keep tongue kissing). It's meant to be a comfort, and I think the fact that he's put it on the album means he's getting stronger. But - I'm sure he got her permission before he did bc that's who he is. These songs are both so beautiful and yes I cried watching you listen too. But I've been up since yesterday morning bc I couldn't go to sleep after I heard the album. Love you guys. I'm so glad Niah was here for these two songs.

play this when i'm gone is dedicated to his daughter. what i get from it, has to do with him missing the chance to say the things he could have to those that he lost, and he didn't want that for his daughter. i think since losing his aunt and father he's thought about his life and not leaving things left unsaid. but that's just my opinion.
@ashleybrantley17
@ashleybrantley17 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, he had a terrible relationship with dad and the when his mom left them, it got worse so he lived with his Aunt. She passed away before Kells did Halloween on the Rocks at Red Rocks in Colorado. That’s why ALOT of us made sure we showed up for that show, that was his aunts dream venue to see him perform at. The song is truly my favorite from the album because he let us all the way in. The only blood family he has left is Casie, his daughter, and his mother, who left him. It’s sad and that’s why est tries to surround him with so much love. EST is a family.
@evomee92
@evomee92 4 жыл бұрын
He wrote it after Juice Wrld passed away I think, and sent it to his daughter, I guess it must've been the sadness from finding out Juice died but also not wanting Casie to be left without a goodbye if something happened to him. It's hella sad, and maybe something that should've been kept private, but also I think that Casie is used to her dad's antics by now. By antics I mean everything he writes in his songs. If she managed to get through Hotel Diablo, she'll be fine with this one too, maybe not straight away, but eventually.

I know everyone has already said it, but Van, you seemed so concerned about how this song affected Casie. That speaks so much for the type of father you, yourself, are. Kells is an amazing dad and he would never put a song like this out there without having a conversation with her first. It’s a piece of him for her to hold on to if/when he’s no longer with her. We lose people we love thru sickness and accidents in the briefest moments. He needed her to hear these things while he was still here, but he was also giving her something that will be absolutely precious when he’s not. 🥰

Either way, you can feel the pain he is going through with his depression. Have to respect the man on how he keeps fighting everyday. Yes, he has a dark side and clearly a pain that's not easy to imagine. Suicide is a very real reality. Thinking THAT deep about it, writing a song about it could very well have been what stopped him. "Music heals the soul" in it's release of sorrow, pain and utter hopelessness. His music has and will continue to save lives. What can he say to his daughter about this song? That SHE is the reason he held on and perservered. He did say, that "everything(good) about me was you" Van, feel blessed that you CAN'T relate or comprehend that type of deep pain. 💯🙏

Play This When I'm Gone. I can only speak from an outside perspective but him and his daughter has a very open communication when it comes to his struggles. He's mentioned time and time again about his battles with sobriety and how he constantly plays with death (me and death keep on tongue kissin). Song was made after juice Wrlds death. He was devastated and realized that he gotta do all he can and say the things to his loved ones everything he wanted to say before he’s gone and he’s too late so he made this song for his daughter for when he leaves 🖤🖤🖤

Play this when I'm gone for those who don't know the backstory to this song. MGK wrote this song last year after a bunch of artists who he was friends with died from a drug overdoses and other things as well as personal friends. He felt that death was all around him and wanted to leave his daughter one final message in case he died from drugs or something else in the near future. He has said multiple times that the love he feels for his daughter is the only real love he'd ever felt in his life.
