I’m definitely a bit of a Stan. Was in 8th grade when Em’s first album was released. When he hit the scene he gave the world a culture shock…he was something so raw and so rare. I immediately fell in love! 😍Lol. I could relate to him on so many levels (growing up poor, bad relationship with Ma, no father, etc) and I played his songs on repeat. It was therapeutic for me, music always has been. But HIS music was like anger management or something for me. 😂 As I grew up and evolved so did Em, I’ll be 40 in a few months and he is still hands down my all time favorite rapper. That being said, I may have allowed my loyalty for Em to cloud my judgement and opinion on MGK. Haha 😆 I’ve never really followed him or his music. Heard a few songs here and there. But over the last several months he’s been popping up in my feed more and more, and I’ve been watching some of his freestyles and videos…more recently, even some interviews he’s done. He’s actually a very talented artist. He also seems to have grown a lot as a human. He’s rather intelligent and has a good sense of humor, seems to be kind and extremely down to earth. But what I find admirable is his ability to be vulnerable, open, and honest about his struggles with addiction and anxiety, he’s relatable. He also seems to be a great father and friend. His love and dedication for his daughter is undeniable anytime he speaks about her. He’s actually sober now and I believe that she’s the driving force behind it. What can I say, The guy’s growing on me! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂

While there are MANY exceptions, the majority of freestylers actually just piece together one liners that the artist has in their arsenal. And while stringing them together, they will adapt in the fly and insert things that pop up out of left field. You’ll notice the BEST freestylers have RIDICULOUSLY large vocabularies, that sometimes only show up in freestyle. Having “on hand” several words that rhyme with most any word that’s thrown out, and then several open ended phrases that can be joined to said rhymes is a cornerstone. I know probably everyone here can name one artist that goes straight off the top, as well as one that might smash on ANYONE, just using the arsenal. More than one way.
