For most guitarists (me included), it doesn't look good, but that's of course subjective. The true facts are that its hardware is relatively cheap, while the guitar at full price will destroy your bank account. Its gimmicky, and some people can attribute it to making self harm look cool, which is really crappy. MGK said himself that it's about shaving, which is a little weird. It, aside from all other points, doesn't look comfortable to play sitting down, lets be real. Practicality is a big part of any purchase. This is all coming from Schecter, which is a massive company that guitarists far and wide hear about by virtue of their popularity, so while we are mad MGK, I'm a little mad at Schecter for making such a shameless cash grab. Of course Schecter does make pieces of art that are beautiful, worth money, and sound amazing, but this is not an example of that.

I'm not sure what black metal is but I'd totally buy a pentagram shaped guitar if it looked good and the price was right, especially if it had Satan written in dripping blood on the back and Devil horns on the headstock. I also own a guitar with a skull image on it that isn't nearly as cool as it looked on Amazon and I kinda regret buying but it seemed like a good idea at the time. When the album dropped he got super mad because a lot of people thought i was just about self harm. His definition of this line was that he used a razor in terms of a single blade razor to shave and that is the only time in the day that he can "relax". Thats also what his tweet is referring to. I think what he is doing is just trolling everybody again and getting a lot of attention and it works for him. This is a terrible guitar but I just wanted to throw in that basswood is just another wood, yeah it's cheaper so a lot of cheaper guitars are made out of it. I have an Ibanez premium series that's made of basswood, I remember Misha Mansoor signature Jackson guitar that was out for a while there was made out of basswood. It's a weird move but sometimes people use it because it has specific tonal qualities too, in addition to being easy to work with. I have three electric guitars, one made of basswood one made of mahogany and one made of ash. And I honestly like the basswood one the most, but probably for other reasons.

Ahhh see this is the kind of "art" that I do have issue with because of the implication. MGK can say whatever he want about it, but his audience is mostly 16 and under, he's a musician in a scene that's filled with depressed teens, and he makes a guitar that looks like a razor blade. I'm sorry, if it doesn't look like he's glorifying self harm, what does it look like? Even if I for a moment believe that it's not a cashgrab glorifying self harm and that there's any deeper artistic meaning behind it, what message does it actually send to teens that are not involved in this entire controversy that just see their favourite artist playing a guitar that looks like a razor blade while singing about being depressed and lonely and whatever? Nik only covers controversy if he knows the person involved would never be on his podcast. It’s why he only ever has positive things to say about all the music he covers so that he remains buddy buddy with as many people in the industry as possible. He’s never said a peep about Ronnie Radke because there’s a chance he could be on the podcast but knows MGK never would, so he’s free game.

My how times have changed. If someone had this guitar in the 80's, everyone would have thought it was badass. Ive seen alot worse looking guitars in my 55 yrs. Only reason its getting shit on is cuz its MGK, and i normally cant stand him.
