the vocals are also very simple, most of them are just the same notes, for example, in this entire part: Breathing in the dark Lying on it's side The ruins of the day Painted with a scar And the more I straighten out The less it wants to try The feelings start to rot One wink at a time there is only one note in this entire part. More notes are sung in the riff but overall the vocals are even more simplistic than the back track. Its almost minimalist

@@herpderpy9445technically synthwave is a 2010s music genre, while being based on the 80s, it’s fairly different from what was made at this time It is even more visible when some artists take inspiration from video games music, Japanese music and others stuff which gives a different result All of that just to say that synthwave isn’t New Wave

Shout out to the guy who (re)did the instrumental as close as he could !!! It's the same track with the same synths, bass and leads and everything. It's just the mix kinda sounds like "nowadays" and little bit dry/cold (especially the drum kit) so it's really like the track have been made 2 years ago. Anyway total respect to the producer who has make me still feel the same feelings as the original

How did you achieve the legato glide during the verses at 0:25? I'm struggling to figure out how to achieve that sound when playing this track. Is it merely a mono synth in legato mode? Does it have any portamento?

It is indeed just a mono patch with legato, so that notes played overlapping don't retrigger the filter envelope. There's no portamento/glide. It can be tricky to get the legato right when playing it live but easier to do when editing the MIDI tracks in the piano roll.

Also, may I suggest that the synth used for the bass in this song is not the Polysix but rather the Mono/Poly? It shows up in the music video, and it seems capable enough to do the job.
