Based on the fellas assessment of the first 2 games, is it too soon to ask if Sherrone missed on BOTH coordinator hires? Looks like the biggest mistake of the offseason was allowing former DB coach AND defensive passing game coordinator Steve Clinkscale to leave. He should have been offered the DC position and perhaps Michigan would still have been pretty good on that side of the ball.

It’s definitely too soon. I understand your urgency however, we must be patient and allow this team and staff to jell.

@@lytelime8104 I think it’s entirely possible that they’re trying to teach these players way too much. I think right now that many are trying to drink from a firehose, so to speak. You can see that guys aren’t playing freely, they’re thinking way too much and on the field that leads to disaster. They need to simplify things on both sides of the ball and see how the players respond.

Craig talking about Michigan becoming a primary passing team... What are you talking about?? With this quarterback? With this play calling? These guys are running 5 yard outs 7 yd curls nothing that puts secondaries on their heels. No way this OC has the imagination to do that. You have two of the Big ten's best running backs find ways to get them the ball!

Relax on the panic. Wink has some corrections to make, and the Texas game gives him examples to work with especially with the linebackers. Agree, Mason not fast enough to be on the edge. Doman had issues, While it would be nice to see Orji for a quarter, also think Davis can spread the ball more. On a couple of 3rd downs, Donovan more open than Colston. Hit a few of those and it frees things up as he will break one of those. In the open field, no one has caught him from behind. Lots of issues to work on, but also time to do it.

Don't think this defense will be up to the task for USC at all, although I was told constantly that the defense would be BETTER than last year 😂 Sane people knew that was not a possibility. USC is an automatic L for me right now. It's gonna be a long season. They could drop ANY game on this schedule and it's sham3ful, frankly. These commitments are not gonna stay with their choice seeing that these coaches have no idea what they're doing. "Milroe 2.0", "better linebackers than last year", "Orji's gonna run people OVER and defenders will have to make business decisions to bring him down", "Wink won't change the defense", "11-1 or 10-2", "JJ wasn't THAT important", "Donovan will have Heisman stats" is all I heard from the fans on the de1usional side of the spectrum. Hopefully Sherrone won't be Marcus Freeman 2.0 😂 At least Freeman can still recruit.

Orji is a threat until it’s 3rd and 7+. Then you’re screwed unless you intend on going for it on every 4th down and you decide to run it for two plays. He can’t be relied on to complete 50% of his passes.

@Craig Doman literally won us the Maryland game last year with the punt dropping right at the 1 yard line. Also, his worst game was game 7 vs IU where he had 2 punts for an avg of 36 yards. So idk where the claim he was bad in the 2nd half of the year is coming from.

In all of Harbaughs years at Michigan, never did they have to prepare for Texas type matchup in week 2. Utah in year one they lost. And some Notre Dame games. And without a layup the week prior. Fresno required their attention. With all the changes, I think Sherrone will grow from this.
@bumpskillersАй бұрын
I think they have to be more exotic because they know they don’t have the depth on d line to slug it out on longer drives all season
@Hassler247Ай бұрын
To Craig’s point we also essentially lost Rod Moore as well who was absolutely crucial to this defense the last 2-3 years. They look out of sorts on both sides of the ball and they are making mistakes we haven’t seen for over three years of football. Loveland’s fumble really stood out to me as an example of this. Those type of plays have not been happening to our team and we have by far won the turnover battle for three straight seasons. Things don’t look good, not sure what else to say. Hope they prove me wrong but right now I can see 8-4, even 7-5 unless they clean things up. I wasn’t saying that two weeks ago 🤷♂️

Did Brian just suggest Quinten Johnson weighs 180 lbs? He's 203 lbs. And, as much as I agree with playing Edwards at WR, he's a 5-star RB recruit who likely wants to be an NFL RB. If he's not keen on moving to WR full time you risk losing him altogether. That's not an easy ask for a first-year HC. This year feels like a wash. I am more concerned about '25 when Edwards, Hinton, Priebe, Stewart, Mullings, & Paige graduate and Loveland, Graham, & Johnson likely enter the draft. I could also see Moore, Grant, & Barham going pro. I think we need to get guys like Jayden Davis & Jordan Marshall some live snaps, hit the portal hard this offseason, and find a top 10 recruiting class which we haven't done much of in the past several years. This looks like a team in jeopardy of not being bowl-eligible, which will be a big problem for off-season development missing out on those extra weeks of practice time.

I just say it now.. Yes we have our problems and much to fix.. But, no one is beating Texas this year as long as they stay healthy. Its easy to be down over this. Imagine teams analyzing themselves after they played us last season. Same type of depression. Texas came in with the best QB and offensive line. THey plugged all the holes they needed to in the Transfer Portal. DTs, WRs and some secondary help. THey are the real deal. But, yes. We have alot to work on and get fixed, but its early and perhaps this exposure of that will be the best thing that could have happened to this team and coaches.

This is the first L Michigan has had in the reg season since @MSU in 2021. The good news is the season is so young and the coaches and players have an opportunity to learn from this a$$ whopping and show improvement this week. Bottom line: Texas is just better! Their OLine is elite! They have a pro QB! They have 4 NFL WRs and an NFL TE. And Sark is an elite play caller. If Michigan's offense couldn't score at least 25 points versus TX, they were gonna lose because their defense was gonna give up points. Offensively, they're inexperienced on the OLine, at QB and WR. And our punt game has been garbage thus far. Doman isn't even averaging 40 yards per punt. Which hurts Michigan when they're trying to win the field position. Anyone thinking this team would be able to holdup defensively versus this year's schedule is insane! If we were playing last year's schedule, we'd be fine. But we're not! Their schedule is brutal. And this year's talent level is clearly a notch below where we were last year and in 2022.
