A look at MGP’s favorite metal albums of 2019. It was a great year for metal so ordering a list of my Top 10 was hard. But, here they are - 10 albums that will totally melt your face off! Plus, albums I didn’t pick up (yet) but are big releases you should know about.

Great list. I know it's 6 months old, but I'm just going through older videos. I love the shirt as well. I remember watching that back in the 80's. Always looked forward to the weekend. Was that on Saturdays or Sundays? I see in the description you have an address in Burlington, VT. I am south of there in Hartford, VT. Glad to see another metalhead/vinyl lover/KZbinr in my area. Don't see many in this part of the U.S. 🤘

Love seeing the love for Flotsam and Jetsam. But saying its their best in a very long time? Maybe you should pick up the cold. When you talked about the album as above so below I immediately thought of forced entry lol. Finally im not sure whats more of a shame on this list. Having Queensryche up there or not having Hannes Grossman up there.

Yeah, I've been generally covering classic bands over the last year and only recently have been including more modern metal. You'll likely see a little more of the latter throughout the year. Thanks for commenting.

I also went to check out the Possessed record right away, which I had previously shyed away from although I did see them live last year. My worries were unfounded, so thank you for the heads up.

This was all good except to demeanor "Cracked Brain" one of the most underatted and evil fun almost tech-thrash records that came out in the early 90s. Way better than anything Schmier MK2 did (and I enjoy those records). Opinions are like mothers I guess

Queensryche most likely would have made my list had I not screwed up and included Stryper (late 2018 release).

I didn't catch that the Stryper record was from the previous year. That's okay. If you watch my 50-Album Challenge video and count the records, there are only 49 because I forgot to grab Deep Purple's Made In Japan off the shelf before shooting... but it WILL be in the follow-up video. So, yeah, we all goof sometimes.

Thanks for the kind words and the sub. Yeah, I've never quite been a black metal guy but I also try to keep an open mind about these things. Who knows, maybe I'll discover bands in that genre that I like. We'll see.

Like your presentation and the bands you mentioned and I'm as old school as anybody but making Top 10 for 2019 with bands who were at their best 30 years ago is laughable and makes you look like an old fool who refuses to move on. At least you're better than a guy I watched recently who declared 2019 Album Of The Year some Rainbow reissue from 1978 album...

Thanks for the compliments. As for the criticism, that's always welcomed, too. Of course, we'll have to agree to disagree on when these bands were at their "best" but, it does seem to me that, since I'd actually "moved on" from the popular old-guy trend of only regarding classic albums from these bands and not wanting to give their new releases a chance, I'm quite the opposite. Again, there are albums I mentioned before the list of much newer bands that would have figured into my list, had I the proper time and exposure to them. But, if it's of interest, there will be videos in 2020 that focus on newer bands and newer releases, though the channel itself is primarily centered around older bands in general. @@TheAccusationNetwork I'd say most of those bands were at their best more than 30 years ago - Possessed -1985, Candlemass, Flotsam & Jetsam -1986, Angel Witch -1980, Overkill - 1989, Destruction - 1984.Anyway, you do your thing, but there is so much more out there these days.

Crypt Sermon is one I am definitely going to be checking out at some stage, but there was way too much out this last year for me to even make a dent in what was released. I do enjoy these list videos as I can watch 10 different videos and we all have a different top ten; just goes to show what a great genre metal is and how alive it still is. The only albums i have from your top 10 are F&J and Overkill, but only one of them makes my top 10 (hmmmm....?). I do need that Death Angel though. Fantastic list.

Caught your video last night and, as I mentioned, really dug a lot of the NWOTHM titles there. That's a genre I'm really excited about and want to dive more into. And, yeah, I like that all of our lists are different. It not only gives us greater exposure to more good music but it shows that we're not all in lockstep conformity with each other -- which is heartening. Thanks for the kudos.
