This was so sad. For me this is a perfect note for the saga of big boss to finish on, even if the latter half of Venoms story did not survive the Konami cut.

He used the Philosopher's Legacy to basically fund himself a secret ruler behind the scenes and became more corrupt and used Big Boss' image to gain influence, it's why BB left the Patriots in the first place. What wasn't his fault, was the actions of the AI Patriots that sent the world into complete disorder after his comatose.

Javelin After Zero and Ocelot succeeded in taking the legacy During the formation of the patroits. Zero began using own status as a high level CIA agent and big boss status as the legendary soldier in conjunction with the philosophers legacy to acquire more power. How ever in the pursuit of power Zero began to become corrupt with absolute power and somewhere around this time Big boss fell in to his first coma. I like to think that since Big boss was such an important friend and most importantly last link of the Boss by extension. He decided to have a part of big boss survive though a child. Then Big boss woke up around the time the project was having failures and Big boss found out about it had the wrong idea and told Zero to go hell and that he hated him and what he became. So in retaliation Zero had the clones repurposed to be super soldiers since Big Boss was alive and awake from his coma. Big boss to me was always the voice of reason to Zero and now that Big boss left Zero,Zero went off the deep end of the moral compass. But even though Zero went of the deep end of the moral compass he still regarded Big Boss as a friend and that one day he would return and take his rightful place by his side. Around the time of peace walker Paz began her infiltration of MSF and gaining the trust of everybody. She was ordered by Zero to hijack Zeke and threaten Big Boss to return or otherwise Zeke would fire a nuke. But I think Zero was bluffing with the whole launch a nuke and make MSF an enemy of the world in zeros eyes Big Boss would absolutely return to the patroits. So in short Zero never hated Big boss he was a irreplaceable friend and he would never hurt him.

If Venom had his plastic surgery performed right before the attack at the hospital, and we can clearly see in the “Truth” version that the nurse and the doctor are discussing the procedure, why does zero at 1:16 ask the doctor at in this hospital “which one is he?”

Who is zero talking to in the beginning? Is that supposed to be ocelot but at a younger age since this seems to be about 2 years after the attack on mother base in 1975. Definitely sounds older than ocelot in 1964 during operation snake eater and definitely not as old as he is during the phantom pain in 1984. It's my guess that its ocelot.

Even with Skull Face out of the picture, it'd most likely put a kibosh on the plans for the 'real' Big Boss to be anywhere near Kaz or Venom Snake at the height of Diamond Dogs' infamy. They've all got a 'role to play,' after all, so I'm assuming that up until the Outer Heaven incident Big Boss had not interacted at all with his double.

Big Boss only enters into one coma and that's in 1999 after Solid Snake defeats him at Zanzibar. Dr. Clark put him in a coma. He then wakes up in 2014. Zero visits him but it's not in 1977, it's actually in 2001. Zero can't recognize BB and Venom because one was burned and the other was blown to shit. They both would've been in rough shape. You can even hear a helicopter and electric doors like on the Big Shell. They're out in the middle of the damn ocean. Definitely not in Cyprus or Colombia. Venom is brainwashed and programmed into Big Boss in the 80's. Solid Snake defeats Venom in 1995 and blows Venom up. As Venom lay dying, he's drifting in and out of hypnogogic sleep. He thinks its 1984 and relives his experiences as Big Boss. This is what the player experiences. That's the game. Venom's programming, memory, and brain damage from the Nato bombing at Outer Heaven blur Venom's perception. As Ocelot says, Venom died for Big Boss and is on a journey to Hell. Venom's subconscious tries to tell him this through hallucinating Paz. Paz too thinks its a different time, 1975. She ignores whatever doesn't fit her internal timeline. Venom is blocking out fighting Solid Snake and being blown up because it's too traumatic and the brain damage he suffered has altered his personality. He was programmed as Big Boss to begin with so as his personality begins to break apart due to trauma pieces of his identity as Medic comes through periodically. That's why sometimes he looks in the mirror and sees Big Boss and other times he sees himself. The shrapnel in his body is from Solid Snake blowing him to shit. In truth Venom is without limbs and periodically feels pain in them. This pain is probably reframed in his mind as the memories of fighting. Just like dipping someone's hand in water and having them urinate as they sleep. Venom's experience is solely in his mind. His body, movements, hallucinations, and even fantasies are only in his mind. Just as he feels pain from limbs that aren't there, so too he experiences the shock, horror, and trauma from a life he never lived. That's the true phantom pain.

I don't think he was dying in the Paz tape, but just having bad health issues. If you think about it, it makes sense he'd already be suffering from medical problems regardless of being poisoned. He's one of the biggest players in world politics because of his position in the Patriots. That also makes him a massive target for assassination plots. Paranoia would have to be wearing his mental health down. Nearly all of his closest allies and friends have either abandoned him or are dead, including Snake who he considered his best friend. So he doesn't really have anyone important in his life. He's constantly moving around from shelter to shelter to evade any possible pursuers, meaning not only does he not have a steady home to build connections, but he'd probably be suffering fatigue on a regular basis from so much moving. This has also probably caused further damage to his mental and physical health. All of this coupled with the fact he's now an old man and not as naturally healthy as he once was, it's not too hard to believe his body is giving him a hard time.
