In this mission and then in the quiet mission and then in the honey bee mission and then in the man on fire in Africa mission while snake is extracting man on fire and then while torturing quiet cutscene and and then in the one of audios where Miller says ocelot not to punch the kids and says they are just kids and then there was Miller who aimed at killing huey but ocelot did not aimed at killing huey and then finally in the very end of mgsv when Miller says he would defend the phantom against naked snake.

Naked and Punish Snake are no different from making great decisions, only problem is Naked Snake (I believe) always been controlled by Ocelot while Punish snake would have break Ocelot’s control. Sadly Punish snake dies as Ocelot is free to destroy the world ( Naked Snake notice his mistake was huge from my view.)

This mission is made impossible to No Trace by the fact that you have to shoot the minigun to defeat Sahelanthropus. As far as I know, it's unavoidable. I tried: 1) Completely evading Sahelanthropus, so that I don't get the white circle indicator even once. This is what happens in the video and, as you can see, it detects the helicopter at the last second and attacks anyway. 2) Extracting Dr. Emmerich by placing him in the back of the truck and then fultoning it. Emmerich falls out of it once it reaches a certain height and dies. 3) Kiting Sahelanthropus to the north end of the Soviet base, summoning the helicopter to the southern point of the map and extracting from there. Sahelanthropus just jumps 500 meters and attacks you as normal. 4) Damaging Sahelanthropus with weapons (which negates No Traces by itself, but I was curious). If you shoot 30+ missiles at it, you can disable it and will remain inert until you board the helicopter. However, once you do that it reactivates and attacks you. I guess they really wanted you to use that minigun.

+Leo K I don't think the content of those conversations is influenced by the player's playstyle. For example, the two soldiers in this mission are actually talking about how The Boss killed a lot of their guys and how he "fights like he's possessed by a demon". Not very flattering. And most of the Russian in this game is bad. The writing itself is like some caricaturish communist speak, with only half of the actors sounding like native Russian speakers. The other half sounds like Eastern Europeans with very thick accents. It really takes me out of the game when I hear these convos.

I thought it was pretty cool; since some of the games I remember playing years and years ago, when I was very young had gigantic bosses that felt intimidating to fight against. This one reminded me of that feeling.

+Leo K I didn't like Sahelanthropus. I hate when games that offer you the freedom to play as you choose suddenly force you into a specific playstyle or ask you to use specific weapons. If you want to see how to properly do a battle against a gigantic mech, try Metal Gear Rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGTFeXiEqJ5gaKM That boss shares a lot of similarities with Sahelanthropus, only it's 10x more awesome and has some actual depth to it. For example, with good timing you can parry most of the MG Ray's attacks and stun it -- which is a mechanics that the game never really teaches you and it's something that you have to discover on your own. While in TPP you can't use any of the stealth tactics you learned throughout the game to help you fight the boss. You just fire a few rockets at its glowing bits / run around in circles dodging its attacks / repeat 10 times. It doesn't seem like a good game design to me. And for what it's worth, you can defeat Sahelanthropus without firing a single shot and earn No Traces + S rank on that mission. But it doesn't take any skill and it's like the complete opposite of fun. There is simply no comparison to Rising, where S-ranking a boss fight feels like a real achievement.

***** Ah. That makes sense. I appreciated Sahelanthropus for what it was, but if I re-evaluate my thoughts on it, I realize you're right. It did take me out of my playstyle. Funny enough, I complained about that when Helicopters/Gunships did that to me during Side Ops - but I didn't really think too hard about it for Sahelanthropus. Maybe I was too easy on the game just because it was the last boss. I didn't really love Human Revolution's boss fights for the same reason. I've also played Metal Gear Rising, and did enjoy all of that game's bosses immensely, maybe more than the regular combat against normal enemies. In TPP it was the other way around for me. Gameplay around Guards was great, boss fights were less great. It seems like it's pretty tough to make a decent boss fight in a Stealth game, since Stealth is fundamentally about avoiding confrontation.

The cardboard box is a shortcut to other bases. He would have had to run 2 kilometers through the desert in broad daylight. Big waste of time. The delivery point at the base camp is also close to the middle of camp, far from patrols. It's like a helicopter landing zone right on top of the objective with no chance of getting caught

Hated this mission. I guess I just suck at stealth, had to retry it like 5 times and I wasn't even going for anything fancy, just S rank. 0:34 whaaaaaat? how can you just roll past these two guys so easily in broad daylight? And here I am, always so paranoid about guards noticing me if I get too close. That goes double for Sahelanthropus, I was just too scared to come close to that thing from any angle at all. I guess I need to reevaluate how blind the enemines in this game are lol. Also WTF, how come there are so little enemies around in your case? I was doing this mission at night, maybe the security is tighter or something but both bases were SWARMING with enemies. Got a measly B rank in the end. Got spotted a bunch of times and triggered an alert as I was just about to leave the base with Emmerich. URRRGH

I remember calling in an attack helicopter when I got spotted by theirs and it proceeded to mow down everyone there. Problem was, it did its job too well and I was left with no one to ask where Emmerich was when the pilot decided to follow me all the way from the first area XD. Spent way too much time looking for him before I finally found him in the hangar. Got a rank B for my troubles.

Made it up to Sahelanthropus and managed to outrun it, only to be punished with a forced abortion. Sent all the way back to square one and decided that I wasn't prepared for this mission. Entering the base, taking out the enemies and finding Emmerich was one thing. But as soon as Sahelanthropus appeared, I knew I was screwed. It didn't matter how stealthily I managed to be, I was running circles trying to outrun that thing. If anything, this encounter taught me two things: one, this game can be a punishing experience for players who aren't prepared, and two, never run away from gunfire, because the jerks at Aerial Command don't like that. Won't be attempting this mission again for now, since I wasted a lot of attempts trying to bombard, frontal assault and tank through. Now, I'm back at the Power Station and will be taking a mental health break. Took me at least sixteen tries thanks to those walkers and the gunship. (I'm just glad it counted my containers and guards as extractions. Still levelled down my combat unit though, but I've managed to push it up to lvl. 16 again.) Hardest mission, imo.

Played this a dozen times. I did it with no retries while taking out every enemy on the outposts, guard posts, and in-between. It took me around 50 runs without getting any alerts, can say for sure it is quite honestly a nightmare, but i also had tons of fun xD the time of the run was around 25 minutes. Aprox. All in all i recommend anyone to play the level, its extremely well put together.

The method for getting Emmerich to the helicopter is definitely the least stressful that I've found. I hesitated during the final crouch walk and got "soft spotted" but the sequence for the helicopter to descend and let you extract had already started so I got lucky. I thought I'd cleared all of the guards and ran straight into two of them at the gate, yeeted Emmerich while I dispatched them to save him from getting shot but I'm guessing that detection (and also the 30mins looting all of the staff and containers, because my OCD will not allow me to leave them ffs fml) is why I got A Rank. Still, now that I know the method at the end to get a quick chopper pick up I'll feel less anxious when I try again...but not tonight, once is enough for this evening. I don't know which is worst, this mission or Extreme Code Talker and/or Extreme Backup, Back Down. I hope that whoever designed these levels wakes up to go to the toilet half asleep and steps on a damn Lego brick. Seriously, fuck these levels🤣

All about timing and practise. When you know every single guard's path and angle and get the timing right, you can outright mock them. Apart from that, their behaviour is pretty advanced for games until that point.

Something else I've been wondering, and this may be a stupid question, but do different camouflages have different detection ranges, or are they purely aesthetic? I've never really made use of the camouflages because I personally never saw a difference between them, and ended up only ever using the sneaking suit (Because that thing looks damn cool)

+MahoganyTooth92 Camo seems to be borderline useless in this game. I tested it a few times with different patterns, and the only effect I noticed is that it reduces your visibility range during the day if you're crouching and not moving. Normally, you become visible at 45 meters while crouching, and with the appropriate camo this range is reduced to 20 meters. That's all it does. When you're standing upright or lying on the ground, or when you're moving (even at the slowest speed), or during the night time it makes absolutely no difference.

I suppose it's a good thing because I can wear anything I want based on looks alone. Thanks for the reply. ...does it apply to the Battle Dress too? I'd find it odd if that massively bulky outfit is just as stealthy as any of the others. Another question (You're going to hate me eventually, lol) Sometimes when I attempt to hold up a guard, they'll pretend to put their hands up, but then they'll pull out a knife and attempt to attack me, and this is obviously problematic when I'm going for no traces myself, as it forces me to CQC them to neutralize them. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a guaranteed way to force an enemy to surrender, or are you always at the mercy of RNG?

+MahoganyTooth92 You are as visible in the Battledress as in all other suits. 65/45/20 meters while standing/crouching/prone and not moving during the day, 35/15/10 meters at night. It has the same noise levels as non-sneaking suits too. About enemies trying to counter the hold-up: yes, it seems to be random, and no, I haven't found a way to deal with this and not to fail No Traces. Everything you can normally do (like punching them, or bumping into them, or shining a flashlight into their faces) cancels the bonus. You have to restart the mission when that happens.

I didn't keep dying, but I couldn't fucking get anywhere without being spotted, then followed and spotted again, and again and again. Every other mission in the game has been great, the portion of Hellbound where you evade sahelanthropus is the ONLY one thus far that I thought was just fucking stupid (and the only one I used the chicken hat on) and that I would have been happy to skip.

Excellent Video and Game play! Well, 3 years late, I've finally reached Hellbound Mission 12. Never was a 1st Person shooter, but now, I'm very good at it, Mgs 5 demands it if you want rapid development of Mother Base!. However, I intend to Capture every Soldier here too, fulton, I need them all because I'm missing about 6 or 7 A Grade Soldiers. Ha-ha! Just saying that I might do this your way first and come back to it because I would hate for Snake to Die, or Fulton every one to do it again cause of the glitches! Then again, I'm at the Check Point and have already Captured the southern Base and a few outpost, will it save it, I don't know, but I have already died once after nearly capturing the entire North Base twice, and GLITCHED out, the Chopper wouldn't land. One more attempt to Capture it and I'll try your #4 method cause it's logical to disable Metal Gear 'Sahelanthropus! In fact, I have already tried it and failed, but the Chopper won't land. My New but old Mgs 5 Game is on the way, so Ill wait until I get it, to try again! Good Luck (I could be TROLLED on the Network. Manipulate all Systems to succeed!)

I almost had a freaking heart attack 8 years ago just because of mission 8, when i found out about mission 9 i skipped it.. did the side op then realized that was how to get mission 12. Then and there did i know why the misison had "hell" in its name.. 😢

Last time I played this I was getting so frustrated at the landing zone because I didn’t realize I had to tell the chopper that was already there to land.. exactly where it was. I ran back and forth evading him dozens of times before realizing that.

My anxiety went through the roof when I saw that big fucking robot, I hid behind a rock and he smashed it, second attempt I ran for it running back to the enemies base and trying to figure out a way if getting by, what I noticed is that the bot just knows your location secretly , I was far back and it decides to walk as close to me as possible, then I move up towards the entrance thinking the bot will go miles past... No it stops next to me which is a bit lame

I gave this bugger the slip by rushing (through the rocky gaps along the road) to a Soviet checkpoint and hiding in one of the porta cabins. I then used Mother Base's fire support to draw away the attention of the giant robot.
