Chris is right... Sounds make the enemy lose their calmness more quickly letting them act dumb and perhabs run out of their cover... Most times it just works in real Life but that things closing in stomps and his freaking scream in combination with the Dualshock Rumble of my Controller made it Work ingame as well! (In my case at least...)

Search the Jericho trumpet on Stuka dive bombers. They make the wailing sound that you hear when a dive bomber is close and were known to scare the crap out of Allied soldiers. The screams are probably done to re-enact that.

I think the idea is to make it look like a war documentary. The camera is very shaky and, the cameraman is following the main character and many times it looks like someone hiding while recording the events. kzbin.info/www/bejne/omWXd6mHaLqba7M It also makes you feel the danger.

@@BountyFlamor Mantis is moving sahalanthropus. He can absorb the impact of weapons being fired or Kinect energy to an extent. Sahalanthropus has two modes, a slouched form, and bipedal form, but Huey never figured out how to get the bipedal form to function. It was only possible with Mantis holding it upright. That’s why metal gear Rex, made from sahalanthropus’s remains is slouched.

As far as I can tell he just likes being around others with negative emotions. He feeds off of it perhaps? So he fuels the fire guy because he likes his sense of revenge but then Eli (liquid) is an even stronger source of negative emotions drawing Mantis to him and letting him control Sahelanthropus.

It goes with the Metal Gear lore of supernaturals, Mantis is attracted on negative emotions, heavy and depressed atmosphere around him, hence why he later allied himself with a then young Liquid due to the growing malice in young child

This is a beautiful game that is pure imagery…but lacks any depth of story. That said I can’t help but figure it was a ploy by Kojima, when fans had gotten used to stories that were incredibly intricate and detailed with several twists. To get essentially nothing in this installment is kind of poetic.

Okay, I get where you're coming from, kind of. (We didn't get a full Act 2 and all) but, here's the thing, the story is still intricate. It's setting up Psycho Mantis, and Liquid Snake as established characters, as well as showing how Big Boss knew Metal Gear's would be a future problem, which is why he trained Solid Snake so well.

I thought sahelanthropus was a good boss IDEA. Just a bit disappointed all you had to do was shoot about 20 rpg’s at him and he’s toast. Disliked skull face and the whole idea that REVENGE was the biggest power in the whole game. I thought he was kind of dumb, I barely even knew anything about him during the game besides he was an angry guy with white skin
