My friends and I started to use this thing we called the "Rocket Combo" thats where the hammer person purposely uppercuts a teammate so that they can get a midair attack. Its a lot of fun

One thing worth mentioning which doesn't seem to be covered here is that with the tap R, or 'first charge' swing you can change directions You can be facing one way, press or release R to start the swing, then holding the control stick in your desired direction will make you turn to face that direction before the actual swing happens. As far as I can tell, this isn't possible with any other Hammer moves. thx for the guides Gaijin Hunter, awesome stuff :) :) :)

I only used hammer once in all my monster hunting, and it was actually the key to getting me unstuck from the Barroth in Tri. Tri was my first game, and I had struggled through the Jaggi and the Qurupeco with SnS, then swapped to Lance to take down Ludroth. The Barroth stopped me in my tracks. I eventually decided my only chance was to exploit an elemental weakness, and the only fire weapon I could get was the Peco Flint. After taking down the Barroth with it, I swapped back to Lance and turtled my way through the rest of the Village quests. Think I might pick up hammer again in 4U.

As a hammer main, you missed one important tips. When you do x x x combo, you can adjust the final golf swing/home run angle. Hold left when using x x x combo, to lower the home run angle to 30⁰ Hold right when using xxx, to liften the swing at 60⁰. 30⁰ is very good way to hit stunned monster like zinogre, narga, ratha/i and other mons. While if you're using 45⁰ combo, sometimes home run will miss due to low the head is when stunned

As I've come to expect from your tutorials, Gaijin, this is wonderful stuff. I'll make sure to "TAKE IT!" when I get that juicy knockout from now on. One thing that I want to bring to your attention is the volume of this video. It's higher than the other guides you've done, by a noticeable amount. Just thought I'd point that out to you. The content is still excellent, just rather loud. Well, specifically the in-game volume. It made it harder to hear the very funny things you added in there, like the fitting MC Hammer at the end. Also, I thought Efenbaum was the GS specialist. Has he switched (since 4G), or is he just godlike with both? I haven't watched his stuff in awhile.

Imo, hammer is the best weapon to teach people how to hit monsters correctly (efficiently?). The hammer needs to hit the head to get the most use out of it so you are forced to learn where the head of a monster is going to be at any time which in turn means you have to learn your attacks actual hit boxes and the hit boxes of the monsters head and the movements it does right before and after an attack . Learning hit boxes is a fundamental skill in monster hunter.

Another thing really worth mentioning is that, during charging, you can evade with either B or Y. Applies to bows also.

The no-delay hammer chain-combo I learned for now: Tap-R X-X-X-X (keep tapping x till full golf-swing) repeat. Or Tap-R-X-A repeat. I love this hammer weapon, I can mash monsters at ease. :D

You should try it in mh3u, it's fun soloing fast moving monster like zin or alatreon with hammer, it might take some time though.

If you run toward a ledge while charging the hammer and turn around the second you jump off the ledge your character will do a 180 in the air and attack towards the ledge. Its not very useful but its a cool trick and looks amazing.

I noticed you mentioned the "ESP" in the LV2 Uppercut. its a great move and there are more Hammer attacks with "esp" than that. Also I think its worth mentioning the Usefulness of the spin attack(though I only use it sometimes) It has Windresistance and will take small hits(like foots steps) I like to use it on monsters landing. Their wing winds push most away but that move lets you sneak in and do a golf swing and roll away..one of the attacks have a tremor resistance but i dont remember which..maybe the spin..

Robert Williams yeah , we have to target head to be effective , so thats where you will find us. Also , playing with a hunting horn user recently. Wherever I went he followed , and smacked me. Everytime I was going to golf swing I got rolled.

+Josh Mountain actually there's been quite a few times I got mounted thanks to the golf swing or it knocked me out of the way of an incoming attack. That really doesn't bother me as much. Plus there's a GS user I play with who also launches me a lot if I get too close.

Now I know I am just a MH noob, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I personally think that the hammer is still an extremely popular choice to get KOs and would be my choice of weapon for the KOs if I were a good enough Hammer user. The reason I think this is because getting KOs with a Hammer is significantly more consistent with it as opposed to the CB. Sure you have KO phials, but with the really flashy movements with the Axe Mode can be tricky to land on certain monsers, mainly monsters with small heads. Both weapons are quite good to keep pressure, but the Hammer is great at keeping pressure in a certain spot (like the head), most, if not all the CBs moves other than the upswing/downswing combo in Axe Mode causes you to move... a lot. While a the Hammer has its full combo primarily in a single spot. But again, I am just a nooblet, so take my observations with a grain of salt! Have a great rest of the day good sir/madam!

shloopstigity You may call yourself a nooblet, but you're right here, don't devalue your own input! Hammer's raw damage and ridiculously high motion values on their bread-and-butter combo, X-X-X (depending positioning and the given opening, X-X-X-R-X repeat), outperforms just about every other weapon's best DPS combo in the game in the same amount of time. CB seems like it'll have the option to stun, just like several other weapons do, but I guarantee you it will not be as reliable nor as frequent as Hunting Horn or the King of KO, the Hammer. There's a reason Hammer was such a dominant weapon in 1st/2nd generation Monster Hunter. I seriously don't know why everyone is meat-riding the Charge Blade so much, it isn't the one weapon to trump every other weapon at everything they do. People are saying, "Oh, it's the death of SnS, SA, etc." And now people are even saying it trumps Hammer? Seriously? Like, I wonder if when Monster Hunter Tri came out people thought the Hammer and Hunting Horn were done for because Switch Axe has Exhaust phial. Like, it sounds so ridiculous, but so does all this overhyping of the Charge Blade. But, I like your attitude, shloopstigity, you should visit us at /r/monsterhunter. c: Especially once MH4U drops.

CodyRockLee13 Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the CB, it is such a beautiful looking weapon! BUT it will not replace any weapons in the long run. I am totally gonna main the shit out of it though, something about this weapon makes it so much more fluid that my favorite weapon (SA), but I will certainly give everything a shot! Except for gunning in LR, forget that. Too many recources to use in LR efficiently. I most definitely will be lurking a TON in /r/Monsterhunter (even though I do I ton already! Just under a different name (/u/PrisonCrepe), mayhaps I wil see you on the hunting grounds in the future!

Super stomp hits twice. The left numbers are for the upswing, and the right numbers are for the actual stomp.

If you want to go offensive and with somewhat mobility, then use hammer. If you want to be a buffer, though HH is still a decent weapon next to hammer, (Movespeed + ESP) then go for it.
