I'm making this video not only to warn about the recent release of a mediocre addon for Train Simulator, but also to shed light on what happened behind closed doors and the frankly unacceptable workplace harassment, bullying and maniplulative tactics done by Alan Thomson Sim and their cronies. All hidden under the guise of a charismatic guy who likes his alcohol.
Do not harass anyone mentioned in my video/s, regardless of if you think you're doing the right thing. Vigilantism is seldom rewarded, sucessful and not neccacary.

I send my thanks again to both Spectre for talking to me about this serious matter and everyone else involved with this video. Anonymity shall be retained to reduce the effictiveness of Alan's lackeys and flying monkeys. Will continue with the next Railway Review ASAP. TL;DW Review: The ATS Class 745 indeed provides an example of 'Study Level' content in Train Simulator, just not in the way they advertised. It's high price helps discourage more than 90% of the potential userbase, the poor marketing gives Mighty No. 9 a run for its money, the low usage potential is only rivaled by the Class 460 and Maglev (both of which are cheaper) and the workplace harassment of contractors, which lead to a court case that slowed production to a crawl, shows why narcasistic team leaders should never get a throne to sit on. Avoid if possible.

Quick note: ATS knows who it is. But yes, maintain anonymity. I actually know who Spectre is because he's also told me about his experience. And I agree with you, it's sickening. I have not purchased any payware product at ATS - ever - and never will. I have half a mind to pirate every single product on ATS. While I want to support developers, I don't want to support someone this bad. I would say I feel bad for the developers, but their choosing to work with this clown is literally costing them success. GU Studios (and no, I am not affiliated if you look at my name) - or whoever is working on the 755 - would be wise to back up all of their files and delete them from the ATS server citing the court cases that have already happened, and return any money to reverse the contract that gave them that money. They could then try to release it themselves through DTG on Steam. They would be much more successful there. It's also harder to use pirated content hosted on Steam, which means a better chance that the people playing actually paid for it and supported the publisher and developer in the first place. They could also work with Armstrong Powerhouse as well. Maybe even Just Trains, who have an extension off the GEML on their sales page.

@@ChrisKhaled83 I can't argue that. The 755 seems to go through Ipswich in all cases, doing regional routes. The 755 would therefore fit on the Harwich International route they already have, while the 745 wouldn't have fit there. Might have been a good excuse for a dev to pick up Felixstowe or Bury St Edmunds for another regional, and we also have Marks Tey to Sudbury covered by the 755.

I didn't expect the comment I left on the ATS trailer to be included here, but it's nice of you to do that, Alan's respone was just stupid and frankly I had better things to do than reply to a manipulative bastard who just sits in his shed smoking all day. I was also funnily enough contacted by the same "Spectre" who told me pretty much the same story BEFORE the FLIRT had released (we're talking months ago here) and I was genuinely shocked & disgusted about what was happening to the point where I loathed Alan, his moderators & ATS as a whole. It's pretty brave of Spectre to publically announce what had happened on a community Discord server about the whole ordeal and my respect goes to him for doing that. As for the FLIRT, it's been a wasteful 3 years wait and has become the biggest laughing stock since the Armstrong Powerhouse "Cloud Pack" nonsense where AP turned off comments from all their socials.

WOW, I knew they weren't good, but I never knew they were THIS bad. There goes ATS then, I mean first there's the utterly ridiculous DLC model taken up to another notch with the ATS subscriptionware and payware, that are required for several routes that I would like to download but I don't have the requirements, on top of the already ridiculous DLC model the game has that basically locks you out of having a decent experience on a route you'd like without crazy expensive DLC. Then there's all the drama we've seen already within ATS and the wider Train Sim scene - how can a community focussed around LIKING TRAINS be so TOXIC!? (It's not the 185, it's the ALAN THOMSON 185!!1!!!11!!) And finally, charging literally £10 more than the average TS route for a mediocre train with low route viability, with such harassment within ATS for its developers, has made even me rethink my relationship with Train Sim Classic. I haven't loaded up TSC since December and have been enjoying SimRail and even TSW4 (sometimes) a lot more since then because of the state of the game, and have made the right decision to unsub from Alan Thomson. Train Sim Classic and all the antics that come with it are simply not worth my time. Oh, and the SWEP 2.0 and the Cloud EP have had a price reduction. Yes.

I've been sickened by this whole situation. I wanted to believe that ATS had good intents but now I have every reason to think anything but that. My intent isn't to maliciously go out of my way to harass ATS, however, if seeing spectre being affected to the extent they were isn't enough evidence i dont know what is. I wish that in this case ATS could have simply admitted fault rather than digging themselves into an increasingly deep polarised grave. I will never forget when during lockdown Alan thought it was appropriate to wish that some people he clearly didn't like got COVID DURING A LIVESTREAM... They can still get COVID today, and possibly have by now. I've had it twice. Teachers in the family, God knows what kids bring into classrooms every day and they definitely bring COVID with them. One kid can infect the entire class, teacher included, and even much of the school if that teacher is talking to other teachers while infected, so my relative got it somewhere after that source was brought in, and I felt ill over the new year. Not a very happy one.

This situation is just......sad, to put it mildly. It'd be one thing if you just had the £37.99 train without any developer drama, but hearing about the things that went on behind the scenes at ATS made me feel sick. There's no way I'm buying (or even pirating) the 745, and I have a feeling that the 755 will be just as expensive, even though I like the 755 and want to run her on the Wherry Lines. As for the ATS website, I haven't bothered with it for a fair while now. I never bought into that stupid subscription scheme, but I used to upload scenarios there before I lost interest in scenario making. All I really do with TS classic these days is use it when I need to showcase specific motive power and routes in a video.

Im going to put my two cents into this so excuse the wall of text. I haven’t bought the FLIRT with the price being the obvious reason even with a sub. I don’t drive the GEML enough to justify buying it plus I would prefer to drive a 90 or a 86 any day. The RES pack I have had more fun playing with. And I am going to hold out until the 755 comes out and see what happens then. That is all that I am saying on the matter that is unless the whole situation decides to escalate further.

You forgot to mention, Phase 2 is going to be payware, not subware (apparently)!!! So it will be (cost of phase 2) + (subscription). Could be £60+. Who knows.

I believe that once the payware phase 2 comes out, you'll get phase 1 included as part of it, without needing the subscription, but having a subscription will give you a discount on the payware route.

That the train only runs on 1 or two routes (in TS) I personally dont care much. Often I use trains on routes there normally would not run in realty. However, the price is too much to buy. Over time ATS don´t convince me really much with their practice. Routes looks nice, yes. But I dont like their subscription system. And most important, I dont like their installer. And by the way - the transparency of their overloaded ugly site is bad: the new GEMMA (subware) has NO visible information whats about, whats included and whats needed for non-subscribers. So I must subsribe to see that information (if they are there)? No way!!! Additional: its called Phase 1 (god be thanked) - means there could be a second Phase. I assume it will be released after 1 year, so people can buy a 2nd year sub. (Same way as Netflix and Co released new series over more than 1 month sub). But as I heared: Phase 2 perhaps will regular payware? And then: their payware need the subware-route? Now with this information about the backgrounds of the 745 - I no wonder anylong about the high price. Court lost, money must come in by the consumers - so they pay his bills of beeing a bad guy?.

As prices go up youtube the reviews get more picky and performative in order to generate the drama clicks to fund the reviews. Only an additional 600k people entered absolute poverty in the UK last year, but yeah nah price of a pretend train in the computer is the highest drama 😂

Nice whataboutism mate. It's not "picky" to show how this is overpriced since less people nowadays have the expendable income to afford it. Also, I couldn't care less about views and clicks on my channel considering my infrequent upload schedule and how I never ask people to interact with the video by means of liking and subscribing. I made this video to bring light to a poorly made product + the workplace abuse behind the scenes of it. If you have a problem with that, then please go way. You'd probably make a good lackey if you send Alan your CV.

Might just be me but it's a jarring juxtaposition of priorities more like the workplace abuse is an afterthought compared to the serious poverty on pretend trains.

It's really not. The video was checked by the informant and went over several revisions before being uploaded. The price is a serious problem to mention and bringing up the issues of poverty in the UK helps to remind the devs that making things this expensive discourages sales since food and water are considerable more valauable than video game content. I reviewed the train first simply because this video was originally going to be a review of the train before I got in contact with my informant. If there was an issue about it being too ranty or the juxtaposition, surely the person who would be most affected by it be the first person to tell me, no? It feels a bit like you're trying to be offended on his behalf.

@@MaverickHunterDaniel same train centric people second stuff that happens with the model train people, all creaming over a low price new model train and ranting about a high price. Then you contact the one with a higher price and ask what they do to ensure the people who make the model trains get a fair deal and they give you a laundry list of things they do that add to the cost. Contact the cheaper one and they don't even reply because they don't do anything. Trains first, people second.

Your review is a little bit overly dramatic, but at least more informative than the Yawwie one. I don't have the pack yet, but I do intend to get it at some point. Probably once the 755 comes out (because there's going to be a discount if you own both, which will make it much cheaper). I already have a sub, which means it would only cost £29.99 for me, and the GEMMA route is basically free, because I had the sub anyway. The sub is actually a much better deal than you make out because it gives you discounts on all the payware products and includes a bunch of sub-only routes and scenario packs that would otherwise have to be payware. As for the train, I agree it is very expensive, and probably too much. I dare say a good chunk of the price comes down to the high development costs of all the TMS bells and whistles. The modelling of the train looks fine. The sounds are fine. You're basically paying all the extra for the scripting really. I mean, it is nice to have all that stuff modelled, but I wonder how much I'd end up ACTUALLY using it. As for the stuff about "Spectre"....that is probably the most disappointing thing about all this. I know who he is, and have had quite a lot of help from him in the past. It's unfortunate that he and ATS fell out. I don't really know the full story, and I haven't heard ATS's side of it, so it's really hard to know what the truth is, but I guess I would go with the court's verdict. I hope ATS will learn from that experience and treat their staff a lot better going forward.

But attention: depending on how much payware you are interested to buy, it is possible that you pay in the end more with a subscription then without. I have cacluated it sometime ago. But with a sub you can calculate it for yourself becaUSE you can see the discounts. You need some numbers of payware for making worth it. For a 1st years sub it may be generally a good deal. But afterthen, a 2nd year sub with only buy 1 - 3 payware - dont make it.
