​@@lecommenter8528 lifesteal was irrevelevant considering any amount of hp you had meant you were still a 2 shot for any of the MR elders/"hardmode" monsters (raj/rag brach) especially everytime a new one got released. Add to that the fact that you had no way to wake up safely and yes, lifesteal was largely not relevant, it was a slower + higher dps version of using a potion that was only available super late into MR anyway. And again, all the lategame monsters in world were way more aggressive, had way more aoe, and hit way harder that this guy. Nevermind all the super powerful defense tools (i.e. parrys) pretty much every weapon has in rise. You literally have to be high to think rise is a hard game.

Astalos is so beautiful in sb. One of my favorite monsters of the whole series. Him, glavenus, legiacrus are my favorites. Seregios is an honorable mention because I like the whole blade idea and his weapons were SO sick

I’ve been using dodgebolt for the longest, it’s so insane IMO super fun to use and if you don’t like the range of the dodge you can slap Evade Extender to make it a bit more bearable (I’d say it’s useful if you like dodging and using close range coating, if you like being at range of the monster it sucks)

I think what your referring to is dodgebolt which exists in base rise and is the switch skill paired with charging sidestep (the standard dash/dodge that rise bow uses to maintain charge level).

Is dragonpiercer bad at cutting tails in Rise? I just started playing bow (and I prefer it in World at this point) so I'm not totally sure how it works. I did think that this run didn't look very fun because they mostly used normal attacks and if dragonpiercer got nerfed that would make sense as to why.

@@mastermarkus5307 They have a new Switch Skill that can do slicing damage for bows now so if you need to slice a tail it's 100% better to use that instead of Dragonpiercer. Don't let this gameplay demotivate you to play Bow however because he hardly used his arsenal of attacks effectively. When you get into a rhythm with the monster bow is one of the most fun to use and also one of the fastest weapons in speedrunning.

just use it. Switch axe is supposed to cycle through morph+double slash+morph, rinse and repeat, using the discharge is suboptimal 99% of the time. I still use it because it looks cool, who cares about shaving 1-2 minutes from the hunt

@@RoyalTrashing That's the thing though. Dragonpiercer isn't as cool as it was in World/Icebourne. Getting the arrow through a monster felt good and crunchy cuz it went all the way through. I got to the final boss of Sunbreak. Really huge monster. Used Dragonpiercer. Only 7 hits. It's not satisfying. It's not even about finishing the hunt faster. I just want the Dragonpiercer to you know... PIERCE the monster.

The spider lets you control the monster and force it to go somewhere, the skill that you are talking about is "Butcher's bind" (2:27) basically you fire an arrow, that creates a line between the bow and the part of the monster; the next arrow you shoot to that part, will inflict severing damage, so it is great for cutting tails.

Yes. Astalos was one of the Fated Four-the four flagship monsters of Monster Hunter: Generations alongside Mizutsune, Gammoth, and Glavenus (arguably the “true” flagship). His theme in Sunbreak is kept largely unchanged except for a new section added to extend the length.

He did a couple charges at the beginning, then maintained his charge by canceling into dodge and back. Also dodgebolt on counter hitting the monster auto grants you 2 levels of charge. He is really good on maintaining that charge.
