things that fascinates me as a sns main. there are pretty gnarly moves tbh 0:24 guard to roll to clutch uppercut 0:33 ballsy 1hp bomb 1:16 Clutching to tenderize and avoid AOE Ice 4:29 roll to backhop god move edit: these are of many moves he did through the vid

Well he broke his own world record. And the scary thing is this run still wasn't perfect. I'm scared to think he might just be the 1st person to get a sub 5 min solo one day. It seems possible.

I actually think that it really is possible. If not, then maybe faster than this but a little over 5'. I've been very pissed when I discovered that alatreon's elemental hitzone values were obnoxiously low and I now firmly believe were designed to be as such to couple with the Escaton Judgement mechanic as Capcom's way of forcing players to use elemental weapons. Thankfully and in contrast, the raw hitzone values are very juicy. There's also the fortunate fact that Alatreon's EJ and all its artificial difficulty can be wholly ignored if you can kill it fast enough (which this speedrun came very close to accomplishing) unlike Behemoth's last stand Ecliptic Meteor.

DAMNNNN son!! You're amazing! I love how precise you are with sword and shield. You don't do random dash attacks, you know how to keep yourself in place using the shield. I also like how you take advantage of the quick natural sheath to get a little speed. Then you , roll and draw the weapon at the same time?? I dunno how you do that but it's amazing, you don't need to slowly crawl in with the weapon in hand , to do the clutch, interesting stuff!

He's not rolling and drawing the weapon simultaneously. It seems that way but he's actually capitalizing on the fastest ways to cancel SnS's guard which are rolls, backhops and the upward slash from guard. This is how he does the roll -> claw uppercut from sheathed. He taps (not holds down) the guard button (R2/RT) to draw into guard then very immediately (split second after) roll then claw uppercut as usual. The same goes for his backhops from sheathed and idle. He's tapping guard then backhopping in an instant after. (The buttons are pressed nearly at the same time but the proper sequence should still be observed i.e. the guard button should always be pressed earlier.) Edited: I realized the terminology I used was wrong. It's not quite the same "guard cancelling" as in fighting games were guard is used to cancel the recovery animation at the end of attack moves or combos. This is the other way around where guard is used as a combo starter and the moves that follow cancels its long recovery. The weapon that uses the guard cancelling concept in MHW is IG by deploying the kinsect (L2+∆) after its attacks most notably on its tornado slash (the O finisher).

@@Sarutobi-xd4pw i actually tried the guard cancelling with the roll today, works nicely! I also didn't know the guard into triangle or y combo was so effective to position myself. The only thing i had dominated fully was the backhop. Thanks though for clarifying.

イヴェルカーナ防具を4部位付けると発動するスキルです。ムフェト武器に限り1枠このスキルを付けられるので防具側は3部位でも発動可能になりますこの効果は超簡単に説明するとゲージ満タンに近いほど攻撃力上がります

An instant back hop while sheathed can be done by pressing your right trigger to block, then immediately inputting a backhop. It’s tricky to get the timing down, but it’s an amazing tool. Being able to instant backhop from idle and go right into a falling bash or perfect rush is simply amazing.
