They are avoiding the hitboxes on those moves simply by playing well. For the fire one, it doesn't actually hurt you until the ground explodes. Wait for the small explosion in the middle then roll in there to punish his face with your big stick. Always have the mentality of dodging towards Alatreon rather than away so you can punish his attacks. You can also i-frame many of his attacks such as lightning even without evade window. Insect glaive has the advantage of being able to jump over some attacks and punish easily with aerial R2. I'm terrible at this game but managed a 15min solo kill with glaive cos it's so good in this fight. You can do it!

The kinsect gives elemental buff, most people who do IG Alatreon speedruns normally just use barely enough elemental damage to comfortably and consistently pass check cause kinsect boosts that off anyways.

That attack was the piercing move glaives can do in the air it hits for a lot of damage from the glaive and the bug too the damage the bug does seems based on your attack power when that move is done

the runner is using a slow, high damage kinsect. when you do the air spike with the kinsect recalled, the kinsect will detach from your arm in midair, wait for you to finish the swingthrough, then move to the tip of the kinsect dealing tick damage. when you stack the above usual damage of the kinsect with the monster extract boost as well as the damage boost unique to the air spike on the kinsect, you get incredibly high tick damage. the choice of the slow kinsect also means that it takes the kinsect more time to reach it's destination, meaning more ticks of damage will be dealt. for comparison, on your usual 20 speed /14 damage kinsect you get somewhere around 2-3 ticks of ~71 damage, while this 6 speed / 20 damage kinsect does 6-8 ticks 111 damage. additionally, if you really wanna let your kinsect do all the work for you, you can pick a glaive that has either attack boost or elemental boost as it's kinsect effect, which will increase that tick damage to about 130 iirc edits are fact checks
