The problem with that is that it would literally become the most OP weapon in World. It’s very strong, but people become too caught up with „meta” and speedrunning that they only see this style as „the thing to do”. Leap, jump back, leap strike again, do the shield aerial bash, rinse and repeat. S&S is so much more than that.

Definitely subscribed after this solo run! Your the first advanced SnS person I've seen. How do you have so much control in the air during your jump attacks?

Thank you for the sub! You can change your directions thrice during the jump. During the jump towards the monster, during the upslash that pulls you into the air and during the actual dunk. Once you get used to it you can control it really well and knowing that you can stay in the air to sit out a stagger OR to cover some slight distance can also help. You also have to take into account that the initial jump towards the monster can be shortened / extended with the right input.

Awesome! Out of politeness, I took 3x as long to kill Nerg. It seemed rude after all the effort Capcom put into this event to end it too quickly. I also allowed Nerg to cart me twice, you know, to make his inevitable defeat more dignified. All planned beforehand. And the 2 farcasters I used were just to give Nerg a breather, it wasn't because I was about to cart and needed to quicky escape.

Thanks! It's important for the newest hyped content to push something out quickly even if it's not your best run. In this case over the next days or weeks the record for AT Nergi with SnS will likely go down to 6'30 and perhaps lower. What you're seeing in this video isn't me at my peak performance, but I'm working on it. It was more important to me to publish a good run quickly instead of a god run after 1~2 weeks. :)

I guess youre talking about the jump and thats not how to play sns if you are looking for optimal dps. sns my not have the highest dps of all those weapons but its without any doubt a very viable weapon, and it's versillity is unmatched. I don't pay sns much but i know what it can do and it's amazing that this weapon still holds up in a time where you have weapons like the chargeblade or the bow (in earlyier monster hunters, 1st gen to name it, sns was broken and probably the only viable weapon type besides greatsword and maybe hammer)

Second, speed runs are not a demonstration of the weapon's moveset; by necessity the move with the highest motion value is used over and over. That's the case with every weapon. CB speed runs spam SAED. HBG speed runs spam cluster bombs. LS speed runs spam spirit helmbreaker. GS spams TCS, and so on. SnS is also VIABLE using slashing combos with elemental or status builds, as a fast hitting weapon it's one of the best in the game at dealing elemental damage and status ailments.

Outstanding run! A bit off topic but what are your thoughts on the witcher sns compared to the jho sns? =)

For most match ups it's worse in Non-TA runs due to Evasion Boost / Palico ATK buff scaling off of your equipment ATK stat, not your total. Which means the higher your initial raw the larger the gap and sadly the witcher silversword is a lot lower than Jho in that department. If it had 10 more true raw (14 raw in game) it'd be almost always superior. As of right now for Azure Los and Behemoth for non-TA it is better. For TA runs or casual hunting it's also a lot better, multiplayer most likely too if it's more of a casual hunt.

Elemental Airborne only affects hits that deal mount damage. On top of it the shield dunk doesn't deal elemental damage and no mount damage.

Is the Styx SNS good too? I prefer using that with Peak 3 WEX 3 CE 7 and ATK 7. I just prefer the higher affinity and blast for occasional damage. Just wondering if it’s still optimal to use Styx

Both sets have 100% crit, it isn't of much use to go even higher. The added blast is almost useless compared to 10 true raw and razor sharp on a weapon that uses master's touch is also quite wasted :). Which makes Ruin better. But not by a ton.

This is a modded quest for PC, I don't own a console. The quest has the exact same files (and thus values) for it. The only differences are different sound tracks (PC mod still uses the regular nergi BGM) and no voice lines from our dearest Commander.
