A lot of the reason this kill is happening so quickly is because of the far reduced stagger breakpoints on all the demo monsters. The kill time has less to do with how strong the ultra is, and more to do with the fact that Los just sits there and lets you molest him for nearly 5 minutes straight. The ultra adding onto that because it's so easily hitting those lowered breakpoints. I personally doubt it's going to have that degree of lockdown in the actual game, though.

When I knew about shield charge not going away upon ultra, KO times being shorter, and sword charge existing, I thought there would be two possible meta outcomes: Ultra spam focused Ultra spam focused with sword charge Sword charge would be most relevant in the case where you have to often charge between your Ultras It's cool to see a speedrun that shows the way the new sword charge can complement the Ultra focused playstyle in a practical way Excellent work!!

Probably with faster monsters it may become more efficent to avoid saed spamming, that was he case with bushido CB in XX, however its aed was stronger to begin with and could be chained. Mmm. Fujioka somehow managed to fix the aed counter of the chargeblade while ruining it in another department.

Hey the game just launched and I was wondering about CB style. If the SAED does twice as damage as an AED wouldn't be optimal to use 2 AEDs instead of 1 SAED + Charge Phials?

Extremely impressive. Gave it a like! So QUESTION for VETERAN MH players. Im picking this up for xbox and i'm super stoked. I played a bit of MH4U but my question is, is mantling the monster not a good idea to do solo? Or at all? I've been watching tons of beta footage to get a sense of strategy when taking on some of these monsters, and the past 4 i've watched (all different players) none of them mantled the monster. Speedrunning doesn't normally include mounting since it wastes a lot of time and you sacrifice DPS. It's only really viable if you are playing with others, as other players will be able to attack the monster whilst it is thrashing around.

It would be nice if they SHIFTED the power within the charge blade but if they make a change I can see them just reverting the shield buff permanence, which would just make the weapon flat out worse. I already noticed that you get more knockback from multiple attacks when you guard point them, like diablos's roar, than you used to in MH4U. Without the Ultra Spamming (while I don't personally like it) and with no other buffs to compensate- I think it would take CB from high tier to mid/low tier based off of the information I have now. Which wouldn't be very enjoyable to CB players. I don't see them increasing KO time for monsters to the way it was in 4U, so I think we're lucky to have the ultra spam meta. Even though I don't think it's as fun as the GP > Super > KO combo meta

I love CB, and I do love how fast and crazy it is to unleash all those attacks. I think a lot of the damage it does is offset by how complicated it is to use. People are complaining it's OP due to this video, but this is not your normal player, this is someone with far more skill than the average person. That being said, the damage might be a little high on the ultimate, considering I was only seeing greatswords new charge (forgot the name) hitting for like 170-190, where I'm pretty sure that AED just did about 230-250 damage on Rath's head (83+31+31+31+30+30 and i think there's some other small numbers.) I wouldn't cry if they did a small damage decreased, but I do really like the ultimate spamming play-style, it looks awesome and makes you feel like a badass.

Amazing run, though I do have to admit that given this is a beta, the Ultra spam needs to be balanced. I was hyped when they announced Ultras don’t deplete the red shield anymore, but now seeing people use it this way makes me feel bad for other weapons.

+Frothbite ss This isn't really 4U charge blade. 4U cb required you to mostly GP attacks and chain with AEDs then use axe loops when the mon was KOed. This was mainly due to losing red shield and SAEDs not doing as much damage. So far in world the SAED damage is so insane that all you do is charge phials and spam SAEDs. It's a very different playstyle.

As a charge blade user with 600+ hours in 4u, and 300+ in mhgen I have to disagree. Forcing the user to play half and half in axe/sword limited the versatility of the weapon. It was adaptable, sure, but having to go into axe form just to damage? Sorry but I think Capcom finally understood that players don't all share the same style of play and killing off a key function to many players favorite weapon was just heart-breaking.

I've never played a monster hunter game before this beta- so far I've loved the move set and appearance of the Hammer class weapon. Whats the general consensus on that class of weapon in MH:W?

K Wright hammer is definitely one of the best weapons for people starting out. It's got a simple move set with an emphasis on knocking out the monster so the rest of your team can maximize damage output. It's a bit on the slower side, but it gives you a lot more maneuverability compared to great sword. Overall a great weapon, although with time and effort there's really no such thing as a bad weapon in mh if you know how to use it!

I feel that too, I think rolls might have more I-frames in this game. In previous games (without evasion 3), you had to actually time your rolls while in this beta, it seems you can just spam roll and your fine.

Once I saw "Charge Blade solo" and "Rainy" I thought "Hell, its about time!" You looked super at home with that CB, friend. But I think I understand why you haven't used it as much in your World videos. Not losing the shield charge and just spamming the SAED...gross. So many leg trips.

I'm conflicted. I've ALWAYS loved SAED. Like, It just felt so much more satisfying than anything else in the game to me, but it was always considered a really trash move because of how many resources it consumed to even do it once, and it got worse over time too. So i'm happy to see it actually be good now, but at the same time, it's ...really really good. Honestly, the only thing I don't like is that guard pointing seems a lot less rewarding now.

If i'm not mistaken, you can do all the same follow ups from just a normal block now- and red shield block also gets the explosion. So you can just red shield block into AED. Also, you can now walk while blocking. I mean, the late guard point on the round slashes are still frames on the end of an attack, which is nice. However, (and I could be super wrong, because I had a limited time) if you were relying on the R+Triangle first frames GP, I just don't see how you get more benefit out of doing that than just blocking, except you can cancel into it earlier after an attack. It's not so much that guard pointing is bad, but that regular guarding seems better than ever with the weapon.

SylemGistoe You can still do all the things you pointed out with normal guard so you're not mistaken, don't worry, and as you pointed out, guarding with CB has improved greatly due to the fact that you can actually move whilst guarding now (I think other weapons can do this as well now). The Sword to Axe GP in my opinion is the best guarding method the CB has as it essentially allows you to guard in between attack strings. Trying to go for a normal guard in this instance would put you in recovery frames of the initial attack before allowing you to guard. Plus I'm pretty sure you only get the bursts from doing GPs instead of guarded normally, unless I'm mistaken, so that's a nice added bonus I suppose.

I believe you get the explosions from any connection with your shield, guard point or normal guard. Cancelling out of some attack frames seems to be about the only benefit now, unless it's revealed you get guard +1 or +2 from guard pointing, but trying it in the demo, I definitely don't think that's the case. Oh well, i'm just surprised how amazing the weapon is now. It's like 4U but *better.* Honestly, every weapon feels that way. Every weapon with a block (except greatsword I guess) can now move while blocking, and lance and gunlance can even dodge forward with it too now. It's insane, but every weapon seems crazy good. It's amazing. I predict there will be a lot of people trying to enforce speed run tactics, but many purposefully shirking those tactics to go for stylish fighting, because there are a lot of "most viable maneuvers" to spam, otherwise, regardless of weapon. (Here's looking at you, Dragon Piercer Arrows.) lol.

SylemGistoe Thanks for clarifying the shield bursts thing, I wasn't paying much attention to it during the demo XD. Having the GP in Sword mode would still be beneficial regardless but I get what you're saying. Playing the most 'optimal' way tends to be spammy; CB was GP -> Ultra\Super rinse and repeat back in 4U, whilst barely using Axe mode unless it was down. I never really liked this method and found it *WAY* more fun and rewarding to use a mix of both Axe and Sword. As you said, people will enforce their own optimal tactics but unless you're a speed runner, what's the big deal as long as you're enjoying the hunt. Regarding the other weapons, Switch Axe, at least for me feels like it's had a complete overhaul and I love it. Can't wait to use it again

Do you think the KO values on CB got nerfed in Axe Mode? I was going ham on this fucker's head with the usual AED combo and when he was down, did the usual two swings>upswing>two swings>AED combo (sorry, can't remember official names) and have only managed to get one KO on him.

KOs are literally useless in this game, they take so long to get and last like 4 seconds, on top of the monster KO recovery animation being gone. leg trips are the real KO as they easily last twice as long. I think weapon KO values are lower or monster resistance is higher because KO king has 3 levels which goes up to 30% bonus KO.

it's like 3 hits, the slash from raising the axe up, and then the down smash does 2 hits, one at the slam and one at the end. and then phials depending on how many you have loaded.

It is still there, that was basically the bread and butter of cb in 4u , actually good CB players are very good at timing and counter attacking , this whole ultra spamming isn't how 4u was played in fact I'm pretty sure he is actually losing damage by not going to axe mode when monster is downed higher dps but again you gotta know the timing , this guy didn't even aim for the easy super KOs.

Nadzmi Abdullah With weapon drawn: Triangle, Triangle + Circle, Triangle + Circle OR Triangle + Circle, + Triangle + Circle, Triangle + Circle If your weapon is not drawn you can do: Triangle, Triangle + Circle, Triangle + Circle And if you want to cancel the SAED or Ultra, and simply do an AED or Super, you can press Triangle and BACKWARDS on the control stick RIGHT WHEN YOUR AXE STARTS GLOWING FOR THE SLAM, where backwards is the direction opposite your hunter is about to discharge their load. This only consumes one phial but does less damage Hope this helps

深雪零式サ・フォイエの It's Super Amped Elemental Discharge. It's the charge blades special attack when the shield is charged and all of the phials are filled. When he slams the ground and all those blasts come out of the weapon, that's the SAED. One of the strongest attacks in the game.

At first when I was using cb (been maining it since 4u) I just kept using the normal gp into super on rathalos and I got a 16 minute kill. But then when I realized that the red shield doesn't go away (and learned where he goes each time), I just spammed ultra burst and got an 8 minute kill. Charge blade seems pretty op in this game due to that shield charge not going away but it has a high skill level so I don't think it'll ever be considered a "cheap/noob" weapon. I've never encounterd another cb user in the beta when playing online either so I think it's pretty uncommon with the noobs right now.

That's because these speed runners aren't using the environment to their advantage. You most definitely can, but using the environment does not benefit Speed Runners unless its something like Flash bugs.

What do you think the place should look like after a huge fire breathing dragon thrash all over the place to take down a mice he simply can't catch? Somehow the nest is still intact, the twigs on the ground don't move a bit, no fire burning or smoke anywhere, no foot prints, no change to the terrain whatsoever after a 2 ton monster thrash around.
