It is a post game thing. You gotta level each area in the post game open hunting grounds to fight certain monsters that only appear there, and it is the only place to find tempered elders for the first time. It has drops unique to the area for upgrades. Problem is leveling one area can level down the others, and the tiniest of things can drop your level! You need at LEAST level 6 to get the unique monsters to show up for that area, and there is one for each. It is a royal pain and super annoying to maintain and grind levels. For example: I was grinding up coral highlands hunting area to level 6, spent two days getting level 5 to ALMOST level 6. A pukei pukei randomly stumbled into a vine trap in the forest area. Two days of grinding was lost as forest leveled up, and coral leveled down even though I was never in the forest, all because derp lizard.

From my experience with the group i've played with the Vets had a much harder time than the newbie (me). Since expectations + new movement betrayed them quite a bit. Honestly rajangs probably going to be pitiful when faced with either my n3 hbg set or my gold rathy IG glaive. Either way cant wait to get home and destroy him.
