As a DCS user, I was never interested in the Mi-8, I always used to think "why would people want to fly that?!", but I begrudgingly purchased it to fly with a friend and I was hooked within 5 mins. It's SOO much fun to fly! It may be a bit of a cow, but it can dance! great Helo! (Crew Campaign Missions are fantastic).

One of the reason why newer Russian helicopter, planes etc, doesn't sell very well because the older one already good enough. This helicopter probably make Mi 38 pretty difficult to sell.

The Mi171A3 appears to meet the requirements of users. The Mi-38 does not seem to be in competition with the Mi-171A3. So if components from one production line benefit another line, isn’t that for the best?

Amazing what a bright orange paint job and a new pointy nose will do to the looks of this helicopter. I have always found Russian designed and made helicopters fascinating because of their very individual very Russian look and design. And many of them are very first rate for the missions they are intended to perform.

Nyet, helicopter is fine
@tonieistotne9471 Жыл бұрын
the funny thing is that they made a new one. The Mi-38, designed at the turn of the 1990s, was supposed to be more expensive but much better. However, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the project was delayed, a problem arose when, when the helicopter was ready, it turned out to be much better than the Mi-8. In the versions from the late 1980s, no one expected how much modernization potential these machines had. To cut a long story short, it turns out that it is only slightly better than the modernized Mi-8, but still much more expensive

@rayw.cunningham86432 жыл бұрын
Flew on a MI-8 about 40 years ago. Found that the aircraft had a lot vibration in it. Watching the tail section wobble during flight made it a very interesting flight especially when the tail rotor hit the fuselage. We did make a safe roll on landing on a taxi way. When the pilots had on parachutes it made me wonder if the aircraft was safe to fly. Then to watch this remake of a older aircraft design with its upgrades, watching this aircraft flying and seeing the stability in flight, oh what a beautiful aircraft. I have flown on many helicopters from different manufacturers and made some parachute jumps from them. It sure would have been nice to make a jump from the MI-8.
@TocTeplv2 жыл бұрын
Pilots with parachutes in a heli? And you were able to see a tail rotor out off a window (never mind it hitting something without deforming or cutting off tail boom, lol) Are you a lier or are you a russia hating propagandist?
@rayw.cunningham86432 жыл бұрын
@@TocTeplv You can say what you want. I did mention anything about looking out a window and seeing the tail wobble or cutting off or the tail. It did hit the skin of the tail boom. Plus I never mention what country I was in when this happen. Yes these pilots had butt type parachute on because I ask a officer with that Army about it. As for the tail when the aft clam shell is off you can see the whole tail section of the aircraft. As for being a lair you would have to been there to see what I saw. How many years ago did I mention. Where you even alive back then. As for hating Russians I do not think so. I meet a few Russians due the Cold War at Check Point B. His English was I impeccable and he was a very respectful Russian Military Officer. Both of us treat each other with the upmost respect. Unless you were there your comments are really mute. What they do 40 years later in that county I have no clue. That was in 1983. Do your research or reach out and get an understanding of what I saw back then instead of caring on calling some out. You have never walked in my boots or have seen what I have seen in the world.
