Thank you for this beautiful spoken word/teaching/message piece of life and the blessing and reminder of how dear our parents and life is to us.

The storyline is good and truly amazing. As daughters, those are the three stages in lives. Daughter >> Daughter in Law >> Mother. My only thing is that I truly cannot stand daughter-in-laws like that. You should never make your husband choose between you or his mother. Its sad because it has been done and will continue to be done. Great job!!

I don't want to offend people but it's true, many Hmong brothers has forgotten their duties to take care of their parents because they try to run off as quickly as possible. Why do we only learn when it's too late? We've read and heard of all stories of regret of not being there yet we can't embed that into our heads. As a CNA and nursing student, believe me when I say don't put your parents in the nursing home. All they can really give is essential care, very little to none genuine love. No one can love and care about your parents like you do.

Gotta be real here, some times hmong bois and hmong daughters got to look at the real pictures sometimes hmong bois listens to their parents and lost their wives and kids, or sometimes hmong daughters listen to their parents and they lost their husbands and kids... but gotta to understand the mortals and concepts of a difference between a mom and his wife, a daughter in law and a mom. As a responsible person you don’t need to change or let your husband choose between his mom and you. There is a saying that without your parents your husband wouldn’t be alive, without your parents you wouldn’t be alive so we as husbands and wives needs to learn n respect that about our mom and dad and his mom n his dad. And honestly not all parents are as understanding. Some dislike their nyab some dislike their son in law. I understand this, but I think they need to make a teaching about those in laws who likes to kill their sons or daughters marriage.

4 years late but I do agree women play part of it too. I understand there are stories of evil mother-in-laws but at the end of the day, the fact of the matter is that she is the one who made it possible for you to be with your husband! If you really loved your husband, you should never EVER give him the choice to choose between you or his mom. And if it ever came down to a life and death situation (which I doubt would ever happen but we're talking about IF situations) in the future, my man better fucking choose his mom. Your love for your mother-in-law is a reflection of your love for your husband. One day, we will all be mothers ourselves and we should definitely ask ourselves how would we feel if our sons' wives acted the way you act towards your mother-in-law.

Don't wanna offend you but that's sexist. I don't think it's right at all to be having this role within family. If you already decided that our Hmong brother must take care of our parents, Hmong women cannot complain about being a nyab and doing their traditional role. We can't just reverse one gender's role while keeping the other. Our sisters fought hard for us to have the same rights as our brothers, and you literally just pushed all their hard work 50 years back. It's that idea that keeps us Hmong women and men in this patriarchy system. We can't be screaming that we want to be treated equally then shift gender roles down our brother's throat.

As a hmong daughter/daughter inlaw/mother with brothers of my own, I thought this was really touching. It really hit home. My family was blessed to have two loving nyabs, I can only hope my future nyabs will love my parents the way I loved them or better. If not, I hope my brothers will be strong enough to know that a wife can be replaced, but you only get one mom.

Thank you for the video. It was such a touching story and message to all youths out there. And sadly I am experiencing this. I'm just glad that in still not yet married, give me more chance to help my parents and grandparents, especially my mom with bad health condition as much as I can. I cannot rely or trust my brothers at all. As some of you may have known, in the Hmong culture, the youngest son was suppose to be the one responsible of taking care of the elders when they get older and retire from work. But unfortunately my youngest brother doesn't want that. Him and my Nyab wants to move out and live on their own. It's just sad that, I have not seen him done enough to repay all the my parent has done to raise us up. My mom's happiness is everything to me. To see her cry breaks my heart even more. There was an old saying from the elders that, " yus ua yus Niam poob lub kua muag rau yus, ces yus yuav tau ev yus Niam lub kua muag nra ntawm yus lub nrob qaum mus tag ib sim. "

Story of a very sad traditional Hmong culture still held within some homes...I am thankful to be Hmoob but there are things that we need to learn to change for the better. All children are to take part in the care taking of both sides of parents in their old age, biological and n laws. It is such a heavy role for one person or in Hmong culture, the the son(s) to do all the care taking. It should be both brothers, nyab, sisters, and vauv all hands of deck.

Video is very inspiring with a very spoken message, but like my father said....one day if I am not able to care for myself anymore, if you love me and love yourself, take me to a group home. You will always be my kids, my life, but you are going to scarified loosing a job to care for me, I rather stay at a group home with someone to care for me and I just wish and hope that you come and visit me, your father. So if you look into this video, there are pros and cons to both side of the story. I rather have my kids take me to a group home then leave me alone by myself.

Daughters are more attached to their parents more than the sons in some cases. Usually, daughters love their parents more and understand their duties as taking care of their parents is important. Son's on the other hand do love their parents, but not so many love it to heart. If you're a son or a daughter and you love it to heart then you're a good person and will choose to love parents until the end. Sons are like the man of the house someday when they have a family, so they need to be careful at what they choose to do in their life. I wish everyone to have a happy life and live the life you won't regret. Peace! Life cannot be complete without your parent, they are the best gift from lord GOD. So, take care of that special gift and care for it to the very end to show that you do have a heart to love.

I expect and hope that my nyabs would love and respect my parents but I had never expect my nyabs to fulfill my job of nurture for it is my siblings and I that need to return it.. They can if its within their reach but they are not obligate to and if they do.. Thank you. As a mother I had grown to open my eyes and see things in its place... "As I raise my kids I hope that one day MY daughter and son will return the love and nurture back to me during my old age. Never once had I hope to receive it from someone else..." I understand the point of the video is to point out only the unlovely and not understandable nyabs but yet the message wasn't clear. It was but just a wall for many children to hide behind the reality. Honestly, this world would be more at peace if people stop making these kind of video by practicing the old way to point finger at one person (and that person is all the Hmong females on earth). She received it from her mother that had nurtured her and owe it to that person only, realistically. We all (male n female) still owe it to the person that raised us so we need to stop the practice of expecting someone else's to fulfill our share or duties. Most Nyabs love and care for their in laws as much as they possibly can but remember that it will not be the same as it would to be from the daughter n the son whom their parents nurtured and had lost many sleeps, sweats, energy, hope, and tears for them. It is them (which is all of us.. The children in the world) who owe it to their parents. I hope that what I said does not offend anyone and if I did.. I truly apologize but it is just a reality check. Continue to love those who had loved you and still does. There's never a freebie out of a mother-love so deep. As we grow up many of us had forgotten the old days when we were taken care by our mothers and the hope of our mothers... Please do not use someone else's back to hide behind from the reality. As a daughter, just because u are married does not meant you got the freebie to be careless when you chose to and expect someone else's to carry on your role for that position will never be satisfy because it still belongs to u so shame on you. As a son, please do not marry someone expecting them to carry on your part as well for it will stay vacant for as long as you shield behind your wife's back. She is there but to be your helper and support not to fulfill your duty. So stop making excuses to love and nurture your parents for they never had once made an excuse to not care for you. They had only made SACRIFICES to love you so as children let's not forget the facts... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooTFZ2t5l5uNgrc
