The persons being filmed are at ease and even jovial in the company of the person filming including military male and female Captains at 1:01/2:25/2:28. If cameras were indeed banned they are making an unofficial exception for a person they are very familiar and trusting with.

I suspect that it is official "unofficial" footage. That is to say filmed by an official authorised to capture people in "off duty" moments perhaps to be used for propaganda/recruitment purposes. Why do I suspect this? Well, none of the subjects objected to being filmed and if they really were involved in secret work they would have been briefed that filming was not allowed - and it's not covert filming as most of them look directly at the camera. As such I suppose they recognised the filmer as an authority figure who was allowed/given special dispensation to make these films. Also, the (released) footage does not show anything particularly sensitive/confidential only people in innocuous settings. Given that the film has suddenly been "discovered" after 75 years I imagine that the anonymous benefactor was "the State" as the official secrets act pertaining to the people on film had probably just expired at 75 years (one of the time cut offs for various levels of secret under the OSA). With the passing of the 75 year cut off perhaps "the State" was just spring cleaning and decided to give this entirely innocuous film to Bletchley museum for archiving.

After watching some grimm Coronavirus videos, this one comes as a breeze of fresh air. Not only as a piece of history almost lost and forgotten but also as the universal things that makes us human. Times were different and the enenemy back then was different too. But as human beigns, the spies on this secret video took time to relax, play around and enjoy themselves.. Exactly we all feel the same way now. We all humankind are dealing with a microscopic but mighty enemy, but also it is time for reflexion, insight and give the best of ourselves.

I've seen a great amount of WWII footage shot in England, but nothing like this. Some of it shot in color, too. I wonder where the person or persons got the film to shoot this? And in the open, too. Wow. 👍✌

Presumably these are edited cuts of longer pieces of film as some are in colour, some in b&w etc. I wonder if we will ever be allowed to see the surviving films in their entirety or find out who those involved are? Would make a cracking BBC History Documentary. Would at least have been nice to see the full delivery by the cricket bowler and response by the batsman which is presumably part of the surviving film and can hardly still be a state secret? (Unless it's being kept under wraps in case we need to use it in the Ashes ;-) Also interesting that the filmer considered it worthwhile to film a hunt as that would then have been a normal part of rural daily life. I am sure that all of us in coronavirus "lockdown" envy their freedom to enjoy socialising and sporting activities. It's a bit like seeing the films from The Man In The High Castle...
