Yeah especially this day and age, everyone is used to cheap, unethically-made clothing. Usually bought from large companies, too. So when there's something that is high-quality and handmade, from a small business, they think the products are grossly overpriced.

No, half of these are sold on Walmart’s site. Sweatshop workers made those and she was lied to. People, please do your research! Let’s not support exploitation!
@anadinis71203 жыл бұрын
@@TheDearestOfThings Hi :) I totally agree with you about not supporting exploitation, but I cannot agree that the pieces in the video were made in sweatshops. I do believe you saw similar designs as these in walmart's website and it doesn't surprises me that pieces COPYING these are being made in sweatshops and sold on websites as walmart. Unfortunately this happens very often: small brands' designs are stolen by fast fashion companies and unethically produced (by underpaid workers and with low quality yarns) and then sold at ridiculously low prices. I saw that happen before with brands as stradivarius, zara, pull&Bear, shein (this one takes it a step further and copies entire crochet collections), just to name afew. This is a problem in itself but also for small crochet businesses owners who see their work devalued due to how fast fashion brands present crochet to the public. Now... as I mentioned I'm a crocheter and I can assure you the quality I saw on those items in the video tells me they WERE NOT made in a sweatshop. The yarn seems good quality and the stitches are perfect and very well structured, this is due to the hook size being apropriate to the density of the yarn used (often in sweatshops they'll use a bigger hook so that the stitches are more loose and less stiches form the same amount of "fabric" taking less time to produce an item). I get where your comment is coming from and it applies, but not regarding the crochet pieces Mia bought.

@@ari-in8ny and anyone can dropship crochet. I still recommend buying from those who have shown they can crochet and not just claim to have made it. As a knitter and crocheter I really appreciate how you called out the time invested in a handmade piece. People assume that it will be cheaper when it is handmade but the opposite is often true. Making stuff is so much more expensive than just buying it from a store even if you make it yourself and aren’t paying for the time. Just the things you need to make it alone is super expensive. I love sewing but I never do it because it costs too much. I made a skirt a few years ago and it’s not very good but it cost me like $30 in fabric and I could of bought a much nicer one from the store for the same price. In the past it used to be cheaper to make your own clothes but now because most clothes in stores are mass produced for cheap, it’s more expensive to make it yourself. Making it yourself is only really worth it if you’re wanting something you can’t find in stores.

Mia, I love the fact that you always take into account all the work and effort that goes into creating things. I've been crocheting for more than 5 years now. I can say that it does take time to finish a piece, specially if you make a mistake and you have to "frog it"(undo the work) or start over. Once you finish your crochet item you feel good about it.

I really hope the creaters of these pieces see this 🙏 i crochet myself and it made me so happy to see that you appreciated the amount of time and effort that goes into making those pieces. I know if that was my work, I'd be over the moon to hear you talk about it like that 😌❤

These outfits were so cute!!! Thank you for highlighting small businesses and explains why the cost is higher with hand made products. A lot of people don’t think about the time that goes into creating something. 💖

As a fellow carpal tunnel sufferer for years….if you can get carpal tunnel surgery, DO it!! I had mine done a year ago and it was life changing! I had heard horror stories about the surgery. But mine was done through a tiny incision with just local numbing. So I was awake and actually watched! I was back to work in 2 days. Wore a wrap for a few days. Took a couple weeks to be back to 100% but was seriously such an easy recovery!

This is perfect timing! I am literally crocheting something rn lol, also, I think it would be fun if you learned how to crochet! It takes practice but it’s really fun :)

This is by far one of my favorite hauls as I also love crocheting. For the next time, you should also buy and try crochet bags, oversized cardigans, and turtle necks < 3

Finally someone who understands and appreciates all the time and hard work that goes into making crochet items. I've had so many people try to low ball me for all my time and work and it gets to be quite disheartening. I had to stop crocheting all together. but i plan on picking it back up again soon as I have quite a few babies in my family on the way and I want to give them a hand made present that will be cherished forever.

Mia, thanks for this video! I love your appreciation for crochet. I love to crochet and often crochet things to give as gifts. People often tell me that I should sell my stuff, and I have sold a few things, mostly baby Yodas. BUT, no one will pay what they’re worth. It takes hours and hours to crochet most items and I love how you pointed out what goes into it! I love you and your glowing personality and the happiness and positivity that you exude!

Thank you so much for this!! I make and sell crochet plushies and it defiantly takes HOURS AND DAYS of work and focus, I’m so glad you appreciate the time that goes into them despite the price ❤️ Sending love

I'm so glad that you included a small seller, rather than only these brands owned by influencers who probably don't crochet their own stuff! It's so disheartening seeing the big brands get bigger and the small businesses have their designs ripped off and little exposure

im am literally crocheting while watching this also i would like to add not all crochet and knitted pieces have holes in them, this is only for specific stitches like that one is called granny stitch

I crochet and it does take a LOT of time to make pieces like those! I really appreciate the fact that you pointed that out since the beginning 🤗. A lot of people get impatient and expect it to be finished in no time and to be cheap :(

This is so cool. Like each outfit put all together is such a statement. But then, like all the pieces individually are actually wearable. Like I was picturing that green skirt with a black tank top...so cute.

I crochet and knit and it does take a long time! But it's so worth it. Custom clothing is just better and I can't afford to pay someone else 😂 YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY TRY TO LEARN ! With your mom ofc.
