According to a 2018 UBS study of 77 world cities, the city was ranked as the third-richest in the United States and the eighth-richest in the world in terms of purchasing power. Miami is nicknamed the "Capital of Latin America" and is the largest city with a Cuban-American plurality.
The Health District is a major center for hospitals, clinics, and the biotechnology and medical research industries. PortMiami is the busiest cruise port in the world in both passenger traffic and cruise lines, and refers to itself as the "Cruise Capital of the World". Miami is also a major tourism hub for international visitors, ranking second in the country after New York City.

I think the nicest drive is on Collins/A1A beachside all the way to Lauderdale. Billionaire row highrises for 30 miles. I remember my first time living there in 1984, it was so small, about the size of the LA suburb of Long Beach. The skyline was about 1/100th of what it is now but the cool thing was all the traffic signals in Dade County were synchronized so you’d never have to stop if you did the speed limit. It does not look that way anymore. It is definitely the place to hop on a cruise ship.

Remember being in Miami many years ago. Had like three or four maybe average sized highrises. Now it has just exploded overnight! Looks to almost rival Chicago! Only gripe I have is that the highrise districts appear, from this video at least, to be so absolutely uninviting to pedestrians! Plenty of great skyscrapers. Just that they and everything around them are so uninviting, beautiful, well manicured streets, but so uninviting to the pedestrian. Crowded, dense, urban, but, nevertheless, dead and quiet, uninviting to pedestrian life. Even pre-Covid when pedestrians were out and about the city didn’t quite have that great feel of urbanity found in many other cities. It’s built for cars and not people. Beautiful city nonetheless, but... Other than that, great video, as usual, J Utah.
