These parents are GREAT at Active Listening! On the balcony, Frankie says, "I wish there was a waterslide up HERE." Lots of adults would explain why that wouldn't be possible or practical. Mom understands exactly what feeling Frankie is communicating; "You had SO much fun on that waterslide!" 😊❤ Feeling heard and understood feels so good!

I have watched this on repeat at different times over the past month. Each time, I find my heart is being filled up more + more because of the interaction of the four of you. As a couple, you + Swav are endearing. Your respect for + of one another coupled with how much you enjoy each other, is echoed in the love you share together. Both Frankie + Stevie, as individuals + as sisters, benefit from how you both interact. They see uour love, they see + hear how you talk to one another and as a result, they are patient, kind, caring, respectful and loving to one another and to others. I came from a family that was abusive, in the most horrendous of ways, needing police intervention resulting in my parents going to jail. As a result of my upbringing, I zone in on the beautiful qualities in families. I appreciate knowing and seeing that here is a family, raising two girls in love. Honouring them. Being mindful of them. I love that you keep them safe. It is clear to me, that both girls know they are being loved in a healthy way. Keep living and loving like you are. Your girls are a blessing to the world because of the loving family you are creating. Thank you 🇦🇺

So sorry you suffered severe abuse at the hands of your parents - must have left terrible emotional scars. Like you, I appreciate this happy family, very much! I was abused physically,, mentally emotionally by my parents. I snuck away at 18 because my stepfather had not spoken to me for 5 months. I could take the abuse I couldn’t take that. I was an A+ student (top girl in grade 10) and did a lot of household chores, including the outdoor chores my brother always snuck out of & cared for my younger siblings - there was always one on my hip (but I loved the little ones!) I knew I had to earn my keep from age 6 on, when I started doing dinner dishes every night and prepping foods for dinner & washing floors. I worked part-time & summer jobs from age 15 on - I never, never could do enough to deserve love. Partly, I left at 18 because I wanted to go to University but my Stepdad wanted me to be a teller in a bank. It was clear there would be no support for post-secondary school for myself or my brother (not his child). But my younger siblings, his two children, were supported through College and his only son got a car age 16 - 100% of costs always paid for by Dad. So I got a job, luckily fell into a Computer career, even though I had no formal schooling for it, all the while putting my husband through university FIRST (mistake because he left before I could finish my 4th year!) I got my degree over 7 years, while raising my daughter & working part-time. Problem with being abused when young is that you never believe you deserve your success, no matter how hard you worked for it! An abusive household robs you of dignity and a sense of worthiness.

I love to see How smart and intelligent kids are adults often underestimates How much thinking small kids do and How much they understand. I always found that was such a pity and unfair. Not seldom kids Think more than adults actually. They do not have as much experience but a clearer heart and kinder untouched soul. Frankie is gonna keep Stevie safe. I just love hearing her teaching her little sister the wealth of knowledge she’s obtained as the older sister🥰 They’re so cute together. That’s the bonus of having kids closer together because they grow up much closer to their siblings.There was 5 years…almost 6 years between my brother and I and while we were somewhat close when we were little (and I mothered him a lot)…I missed most of his teens years because I moved away to go to college and then he started his adult life in the military and was all over the place and although we talked and saw each other occasionally….we never got to really know each other as adults. We’re only now just growing closer in our 40’s. Had we been a little closer in age we would have gone through similar stages together. I could watch Stevi & Frankie together all day. So glad your sweet family had such a nice trip. Looking forward to your next vlog ❤

I’m curious if you made a real point of telling Frankie after Stevie was born that it’s her job as big sister to teach her. Because she really seems wonderfully conscientious about it all the time. And it makes a huge difference in their dynamic and is clearly really great for them developmentally. I remember when my sis was born and I was 7 that my mom said over and over to me ‘Your job is to look out for your baby sister.’ ‘Always look out for your baby sister’ ‘Big brothers look out for their baby sister’. I think part of it was that my mom was chronically ill - lupus and non-Hodgkin lymphoma - and didn’t know if she was going to live to see us grow up (which she did!). She wanted to know I’d be there for my sis. But my goodness it made a difference. My sis was always in my mind and almost 35 years later we’re best friends and talk all the time.
