Hopefully Miami Dade doesn't mistreat this new fleet like they did the Budd fleet years of negligence caught up with them to a point where they have no other choice but to phase these cars in quickly
@xoxxobob614 жыл бұрын
The Neglect came from years of not having enough funds to keep the BUDD fleet maintained until the Transit Tax was passed in 2002. Remember too that those cars were over 30 Years old so Miami decided to shell out $330 Million for new ones.

Very beautiful trains! Inside looking very beautiful and clean unlike the NYC subways here but that is because unlike over in New York City, Miami transit has less ridership then New York City. You know everyone in Miami loves to drive cars just like Los Angeles CA but east coast south! I should know because I have lots of family members who lives in Miami, and I visit Florida few times that I see what I know you know?! Driving around is a big thing in Florida, Miami hardly taking this Miami transit ride.

LA does have respectable ridership on Metro Rail though… until last year.
@Lanes1005 жыл бұрын
Just a byproduct of the US not taking care of the transit system, not the ridership. Tokyo has a much higher ridership per day than the MTA does, and their trains are spotless. They do shut down every night at 1 until 5 though, so you do have downtime, but it is well worth it for the cleanliness.
@ciello___83075 жыл бұрын
@@Lanes100 Whole different scenario. In tokyo, most people actually ride the metro. In the US, the systems aren't that conveniant or expansive so most people don't even take it. Theres less investment but also crucially WAY less people riding.

"More comfortable riding experience" also featuring severe software and ATO issues, thin padded seats and super bright lighting. The Budds are so comfy with soft lighting and cozy seats. But it always seems to be a trend, the newer the transit vehicle the less human it is. The Hitachis are still decent, but they likely wouldn't have been here had the Budds been refurbished or if they were still in business.
@TechandTransit4 жыл бұрын
You're right. The Budd's are more comfy. I honestly found them more roomy than the Hitachi cars but maybe that's only because the seats were better. But a refurbishment probably would've taken the character out of them and added the bright lights and whatnot anyway. Still, it would've been nice to see what these cars would be like with proper care.
@trackwerkOG4 жыл бұрын
@Tech and Transit The first overhaul plan included a slanted front end retrofit. Later plans would have had them essentially redone the same as Baltimore's. The decision to get new trains altogether was emphasized from lack of maintenance which itself was from difficulty working with parts that were no longer manufactured from a now-defunct company.

Omg why can’t railcar manufacturers realize that they should stop putting corrugated side panels on the trains? It just makes them look 20 years older and they’d look a lot better with smooth, clean sides. Just look at Chicago - the 2600 series cars are the only cars still in service today that don’t have corrugated sides, but they look the most modern IMO (aside from the rollsign instead of LED destination sign) because their sides are smooth and sleek. The newer trains have the ugly corrugation and look older. My thoughts.
