Georgia, Ohio state, Oregon, and Ole Miss. Any way you dice it, Miami is going to be facing a monster of a team. All 4 of those teams are legit with very few weaknesses. Personally I would say give us Oregon if I could choose one ! We all know the reasons why ! #GoCanes ! 🙌

As one of those non ACC team fans, it would be pretty cool to see SMU win it. They used to have a top tier football program in the 80s but got the "Death penalty", banned from bowl games, banned from television, even had a season cancelled. All for, get this.... paying players. It's cool to see them finally make it back into that national spotlight. But it's a shame if that would get in the way of a Miami ACC title.

Not too upset about Miami but some of these teams are ridiculous. Bama cashing in on its rep and not its performance makes no sense. SMU is getting so much disrespect. They lost one game to an undefeated top 10 BYU and they're not a top 10 team? Hurts the whole conference. I don't understand the SEC bias. It makes no sense. At what point in the season do the on field results begin to matter? We need some metrics to get rid of these stupid prejudices. The whole ranking system is a fraud.
@nickpoly488 күн бұрын
I think the rankings look like they are trying to set up as many Big10 and SEC teams as they can so almost every first round match has a team from those conferences in it. That way they have the best chance of a win from their big money conferences so they can keep the bias reasoning alive.

I'm not a fan of these rankings in general because they always cause controversy, leaving some fanbases screaming, sometimes legit, but it's the system we have, so you have to play along. Again, the simple answer is just win, and win as big as possible, that loss to GT was a definite blow. The Canes seem to have a hard time getting love from the deciders who make these rankings so you don't have the same wiggle room like some of these programs do. At this point you're 8, block out the noise and kick some ass the next 2 weeks and let the chips fall where they may. It's not a cut and dry, black and white system so all you can do is handle YOUR business and move on...

This Ranking is a Joke..all the analyst push aside Miami and talk about SMU Beating us and getting the first round bye and even talk about Clemson more saying they can make it and we are in the driver seat, we are the higher bid and we still get no credit or love! Should we blame it since we haven’t been relevant in so long and since we keep losing games we’re supposed to win? A 2 loss Alabama team ahead of us?? all I care about is winning the next 2 games and winning our first ACC championship and as long as we play with do or die mentality and click on all cylinders, I don’t think any team can beat us in the playoffs.. but that’s just my opinion

Miami is overrated, but that doesn't mean they're an awful team. They have a pretty good offense (that hasn't gone up against a good defense) and a terrible defense. They're a "wildcard" team. They're LSU (not a 1:1), just in a pitiful conference. Miami should have at least three or four losses this year, against below-mediocre teams (California, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Georgia Tech). Miami's the epitome of a team getting overrated by people, because they refuse to accept that their schedule and conference is a laughing-stock. If you put Miami in the SEC, just give them any schedule, they're having at least three or four losses, bare-minimum. Ole Piss, Alabama, Texas, and South Carolina are beating them like a red headed step-child, and then Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and LSU range from it being a slog to blowing Miami out of the water, with a low chance of Miami blowing them out. And then you have good teams with issues like Arkansas, Florida, Vandy, etc. >"If you think Miami's overrated, how'd they beat your team?" This isn't a coherent point, it's something you'd expect from a child on the playground grasping at straws. Miami beating USF means nothing about their point. USF's a really well-coached team that's out-gunned against Miami. USF losing to Miami doesn't magically mean Miami isn't overrated. 'Overrated' isn't a synonym for 'bad,' it means that team is being over-valued. You're "continuing to harp" on your ignorance and bias. >I'm not all gun-ho on "ranked wins" (because the AP is filled with morons, Missouri shouldn't be ranked and there are plenty of really good teams ranked 26-40 that don't show-up in the top 25, so they don't get recognition), but again, Miami's schedule is pitiful and the ACC is in shambles as a conference. South Carolina, for example, would own the ACC. Miami would struggle to keep their head above water in the SEC. >Yes, Miami just has to win and they're in the Playoffs. That also means nothing in reference to them being overrated or not. They have to prove that they're not overrated, just dealing with the hand they're dealt, by convincingly beating Big 10 and SEC teams in the Playoffs. But even then, why is Miami a total of 12 points away from having four losses instead of one? And those 12 points are against mediocre-at-best teams. >Miami's ranked too high. Ole Piss is blowing the doors off of them. But Notre Dame, Indiana, and Penn State are also being wildly overrated in these rankings as well, so it's not unique to Miami. (And for reference, I'd have it: Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Ole Piss, Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, SMU in that order, with Indiana dropping out of 12 when Ohio State breaks them in half). And just as a side-note, I can't wait for this Playoff format to get annihilated and for the SEC to take their ball and go home when one or two of their teams get fucked over this year. The 12 team format was always stupid, and automatic-bids made it infinitely worse. It should've been 6 teams, top two get a Bye, no automatic-bids. When we're seriously talking about the idea of missing your Conference Championship helping your odds, because you have a chance of playing the ACC or Big 12 champion, or a Go5 team, then it's all lost. Barring some major shake-ups after the Conference Championships, it should be, in whatever order: Ohio State, Oregon, Bama, Miami, Ole Piss, and Texas. The rest are either participation trophy winners or Big 10 and SEC teams that're a year out and angry at themselves for dropping too many games.

@@Erouxd >Rankings are a mix of of things. What you do on the field, who you've played, projection, etc. Oregon being at 1 doesn't mean I think they're the best team in the nation by some wide-margin, I don't think there's any elite team in the country, just some good teams with a lot of flaws, with the ceiling for any of them being "pretty good by historical metrics." You could easily argue Oregon to win and lose against 6-9 teams and I wouldn't push against it. But they're undefeated and beat Ohio State, so they can have it. You're the only one crying and losing their mind over it. >A "book" is when you spend a few minutes typing-out a thought and response. Don't project your below-average abilities onto others. >You can't deny Texas' talent and Sark's ability to coach. There's a reason they wouldn't be a massive underdog against any team. And on the flip-side, there's a reason they wouldn't be a massive favorite over someone like Alabama (who's a volatile team that you hope has figured themselves out on offense, specifically Milroe, going forward). My opinion on them is Josh Pate's, which is that if they lose to Texas A&M next week, they shouldn't be in the Playoffs at all. Texas is a projection team, because you can't deny the ceiling, but they also haven't touched it, and Georgia beat them senseless in Austin. If someone wants to argue that they should be ranked below other teams, then by all means go for it, I don't care. Kid, you're lashing-out like a toddler who got told "No," over getting candy at the store. This is pathetic slop. You're angry at the handle I made years ago during the Xbox 360 days, get a grip. You're grasping at every imaginary straw in your schizophrenic view, because you don't have an actual argument, you just want everyone to suck-off Miami without hesitation because you like them. Understand that you lack the intelligence and knowledge on the sport to actually speak on it with any level of competence. Asking your opinion on anything in the sport is the equivalent to me asking one of my toddlers.

Man, all this does not matter. Miami has to win out to make the playoffs. If they lose one more time they are out. They will put another SEC team in its place. It will sort itself out on the field. The top 12 in the rankings do not all get into the playoffs. The playoff seeding takes the best of each conference and not the best in the country. Tenn is better than BUY and are ranked higher. Tenn is out of the playoffs right now and BYU is in as the BIG12 champ. The rankings don't matter, what matters is where you finish in your conference and your win totals.
