Always entertained how they assign you a SID or STAR and then more times than not you don't fly them. Nice video as always Martin.
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is pretty rare that a SID or STAR is actually flown as charted, for us single-engine prop planes at least. Or I get vectors which take me precisely along the cleared SID, which I could fly just fine on my own. Seems to be a big mystery. :-) Regards, Martin

Outstanding. I have to say that I’m more comfortable in the clouds in the Midwest than down in Florida. Those Florida clouds are just a little grumpy for me.
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying, UAL1kFlyer. Of course it all depends on the day and the circumstances. The Midwest can produce pretty powerful storms as well. On this flight from Miami, the key was to depart not too late; things usually get worse in the afternoon there, and on that day there were thunderstorms later in the afternoon. Regards, Martin

Another great video. As a A36 driver, may I recommend a scoop that attaches to the window in the vicinity of the pilot small window and will blow air at you while you wait. It is pretty amazing how well it works.
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
I remember these scoops from my days flying gliders. Do you have a source/product name or number that works for the A36? Thanks, Martin
Martin, as usual another interesting and enjoyable video. I'm curious with all the charlie and delta class airports in the vicinity of both Tampa and Miami was the decision to use the Bravo airports just for educational purposes? Thanks kindly and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the note, Jon. I enjoy going to these busier airports, despite their higher cost and typically longer delays. It's a bit of a fun adventure for me. :-) Regards, Martin

Hi Martin. It looks like you had quite a few cameras rolling for this trip. I appreciated the angles you chose. I'm wondering if you use the GoPro app to control your cameras and if so, have you had issues with it failing to connect? I have also had quite a few challenges with them overheating. Just wondering if you've had similar experience. Thanks again for sharing these informative videos!
@CharleyAlphaAviation6 жыл бұрын
Malibu Flyer we use GoPro. So far all are within reach from the cockpit. So no need for the app yet. We may add some external and my plan was to test with the app. The only one that gets hot is our dash one when in direct sun. The others are located so no direct sun hits them.
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
Hi Malibu Flyer, I typically have four or five GoPros running, plus a camcorder watching over my shoulder (used for the GPS in this video). All of that can be turned on and off from my seat. I find if I enable WiFi for the GoPro app, it drains the battery even faster - so I don't enable that. Overheating can be a problem, especially for the camera pointing forward, out the windshield. I find that putting a piece of paper over it helps tremendously, to provide shade without of course covering the viewing angle. Regards, Martin

Very well done, as usual, Martin. Also very nice of ATC to not only handle traffic (separation), but keep an eye on your "smaller" aircraft, and keep you from entering heavy precip cells further down the route. BTW, is your weather & traffic display info solely from ADS-B, or do you have radar in the Bonanza?
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Cousin. I do not have onboard radar in my A36. I've seen Bonanzas with a radar pod on the wing, but the radar antennas are very small compared with what a twin can fit in the nose, and they are very limited in range. - Martin
@Cousin.6 жыл бұрын
Cool. Yeah, I figured that was probably the case; I just haven't seen the weather displayed via ADS-B yet. (Only from on-board radar systems, on larger planes.) That's not bad! - Cuz
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
The quality of the display (of ADS-B/FIS-B weather) is pretty good. One thing to consider is the information displayed can be several minutes old, vs. the real-time information you get from ob-board radar. ADS-B weather is great for strategic planning, not so much for finding your way through a fast-moving front. - Martin

Nice video man. I’m a student pilot myself and love watching videos like these. For example, your video helped me a good bit with communications with a class A airspace. Much more intense than the class D or even C I fly in!
@martinpauly6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, it's a little busier than Class C/D airports, but it all works basically the same way. All the best for getting your certificate! - Martin
