Miami Travel Guide: Use the METRORAIL

Some History: MetroRail was proposed back in the 1960s and it was originally to be 66 Miles of Heavy rail that would connect most of Miami & the suburbs including Miami Beach. The original 21 Mile Rail line cost $1 Billion Dollars in the 1980's and the Reagan Administration said it would be cheaper to Rent a Limo because of so few passengers when it first opened so he cut the funding for it. In contrast the 3.5 Mile extension to the Airport in 2013 cost $500 Million Dollars or basically Half the cost of the entire system originally built! There are plans to extend MetroRail to South Beach but it needs Federal Funding to help with the costs....PS : I Subscribed & Glad you are Miamians now!

You are 100% allowed to film on the Metrorail and on the platforms/stations. As long as it’s not a commercial purposes. I was part of a photography protest a few years ago about 50 photographers rode the metrorail while filming. If you search Carlos Miller on YT you’ll find a video of Metrorail security beating him and throwing him down the escalator all because he was filming the downtown skyline.
