This scene is from the season five episode, Redemption in Blood. Sonny Burnett's memories as Crockett become more vivid while he walks on the beach. With his memory almost fully restored, he realizes what he has to do, and returns to OCB where he is met with guns drawn by the entire team, except for Castillo and Gina.

absolutely love how stunned crockett gets when Stan tells him that he shot Tubbs. Crockett looks at Marty and Marty just nods... This starts to break Crockett more than anything else.. When Marty tells him Tubbs was wearing a bulletproof vest. Crockett breaks with relief and then tries to pull it together. This was an incredibly acted scene with little dialog. It also shows how close Crockett and Tubbs had become over the course of 5 years.

I was disappointed that they made the movie without Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. Of course it's not the 80's anymore, but if a seventy something Pacino can play veteran cops, I don't see why the two originals couldn't play Crockett and Tubbs in their sixties. I think they could still do it, but the clock is ticking. If they ever do a movie, I hope it's serious, and not full of jokes about how old they feel.

Sonny was always borderline crazy and out of his mind, from the PTSD in Viet Nam and being a vice cop in Miami. The explosion on the boat at that summit meeting removed the last bit of resistance from him, the will power that keeps us from going insane. That is what made the otherwise soap opera cliche of amnesia so perfect here.

When he learns he shot Rico...not once, but twice...damn, it’s painful to watch Sonny even try to process the very thought. This scene was without a doubt incredibly well acted on DJ’s part. And a few mentions of the ending of “Out where the buses don’t run”. Big respect to both. But no one scene encapsulated DJ as Sonny Crockett/Burnett and his inner conflict and treading that thin line than the ending of “Deliver Us From Evil Pt2” when he shot and killed Hackman who had killed his wife (Sheena Easton). Man...the look in his eyes and his cold demeanor was bone chilling. My favorite scene in the series. Oh yeah, and blowing up the Daytona.

The look on Sonny's face when Castillo and Switek ask him if he remembers shooting Tubbs; at that moment Sonny probably realized that Tubbs wasn't among them in the office when he came in and he thinks Tubbs is dead, the sorrow on his face and in his eyes is almost overwhelming. Then Castillo tells him Tubbs was wearing a vest, Sonny's expression is one of great relief that his partner, his brother is still alive.

I found so many cool songs through this show & Jan's scoring is the best for a drama, hands down. Plus MV had the knack for having the best final scenes. Even though those were my teen yrs, the 80s weren't the best time of this experience called life for me, but Id still time travel back there in a 'Heartbeat' (DJ fans, see what I did there? 😁). Good to still be able to laugh. The 80s pop culture did a great job managing to effectively balance out the less than good things. It was colorful, entertaining & clearly didnt take itself too seriously, unlike the strange mashup of bizarre silliness & ego flexing that is the norm now. That was part of the 80s fun, the ability for our pop culture icons to go with the 'lighthearted flash' entertainment trends, like doing music videos that turned out very to be very cool & entertaining when the artist didnt care much for doing them, at least in public lol. We were also be able to be a part of the lighthearted fun & I think that had alot to do with why it was such a unique decade. Im glad I got to experience that decade. Even though it wasnt a perfect one for alot of society, its still a very, very long way from now. The intensity of the things that werent so great is nothing like it is now in comparison. And theres not enough strong 'balance.' Thats how u can tell that things are honestly very different now & that the fondness for the 80s by 80s peeps isnt just a nostalgia thing. That balance existed in the 80s, at least in the U.S. We dont have nearly enough of that balancing weight right now. 🎶⚖🎶

Season One of MV was television at its pinnacle. However, by season 5, the greatness was gone, way gone.

Season 5 was leagues better than the nightmare that was season 4. And Tim Truman's music really rocked!

Thousands of thanks to you! I love the song playing over the montage of Sonny going back to the station. But I am forever grateful that you included that scene where they talk to him in the station. The look on Crockett’s face when they tell him that Tubbs was shot was heartbreaking. And his relief in finding he was wearing a vest was palpable. Thank you again!

I remember watching this as it aired and wishing I had recorded on VHS. I went out and bought the Peter Gabriel LP the next day. Michael Mann had away to bring things together that on paper sound ridiculous but in TV they work so well - a true TV genius with an epic cast and production team. We want more.
