Non-boater here but if only there were more than one of those strange silvery pole things in the world, even if there were enough for every boat to have one, Wavy & BG would be clean out of a job, I think.

One day you should do a video of people who are good at this. opening day of salmon fishing, or any other group of people that dock their boat more than 3 times in ten years.

I know the redneck way to dock from downstream. Have a coffee can full of concrete to use as a cheap anchor, pull up alongside, and toss it across the dock to the other side. That holds the bow enough to crank the stern over, and the problem's solved. We always docked our bigger boat on the downstream side because it won't rub that way.

I can't understand what is so hard about docking a boat. if you have your lines ready and approach properly there should be no problem. I used to dock my boat with no problem BY MYSELF!

I'm amazed 95% of these boat OWNERS have NO CLUE how to dock a boat with or without current & wind. Nose in at idle speed, step off onto dock & make the bow line "fast" (secure) immediately, then back down (reverse) on it... secure stern line. I see all these people on the dock holding dock lines, standing erect, and struggling to pull boats in. If one takes a wrap on a dock cleat or piling with the LOOSE end of the line, they can then pull on line btwn. boat & the secured point (wrap), then take up slack with other hand. It's just plain common sense of physics. And no one here ever has fore & aft spring lines. I always approach the dock no faster than I'm willing to hit it, with fenders deployed, bow line, spring lines & stern line ready. Their lack of preparedness & ignorance takes up a lot of unnecessary time for others to load & launch in a timely fashion.

Never understood why people don’t nose in and tie off the front. You can then use the motor to pull the stern back and over towards the dock. Worse are the guys with twins turning the wheel everywhere. Use the throttles! I miss black point.

I have watched dozens upon dozens of these videos and not once seen anyone do it. I've contemplated videoing myself doing it and asking BG to upload it. As long as you have two people on the boat, it's such a simple maneuver.

Oh, and make sure as you're backing to turn toward the dock. If the dock is on the right, turn the wheel to the right. If the dock is on your left, turn the wheel to the left.

These clowns should not be allowed on the water, what would they do in an emergency situation out on the water. If they can't even dock a tiny little boat they sure couldn't handle a emergency. I used to dock my 38 ft. 22,000 lb. sailboat myself.
