with my philosophy Tua is overpaid but i'm no hypocrite. all QBs are overpaid. i don't advocate for QBs getting paid this money because i think all QBs...ALL are products of the rosters around them. Mahomes with all his physical gifts wouldn't be talked about like he is if the Chiefs kept losing.

By that logic, what was the rush to sign him instead of letting him play on the 5th year option? Sure, he would have costed you more... but the salary cap would have been higher, right? The SMART move for the Dolphins would have been to play him on the 5th year option. If his struggles continued (injuries, late season performance, performance against good teams, ect), then they could have pivoted in 2025. Now they are locked in with him regardless of what happens in 2024.

The guaranteed is 167M that's already been said, it's not going to be more or less than that, the only question is how much of that he gets in Year 1, Miami is not even remotely close to the Saints situation YET, they have just started the "Void Year" Game, they could still go bananas with void years the next few years and stay competitive, curious to see how many void years they add to Tua's Deal. There are also rumors from Rapaport that there are some more incentives in the deal that will make is APY go to 1, if he wins playoff games.
